What are you interested in right now?

If you ever have pictures, I'd love to see your progress! I love baking although I don't often have reason to do it.

I almost always forget to make AA take pictures when I bake.. I do it so often lol. I am still in the "looking through tutuorials stage" when it comes to sugarpaste and flowers.. and slowly gathering tools and materials :D.

As for finding reasons to bake.. I always do.. Sometimes AA tells me to give him a break though.. :(

And that is when my brothers and coworkers get more to nibble on

In truth, I have two pillows on my bed, but they're so big, fluffy and soft (grade A1 hungarian goose down for that decadent touch) that you only need use one to sleep on.

As for whether I like pillow fights, the only way you will ever know is to share my bed... :p

Ah, so you have an extra pillow for crying. I knew you had enough estrogen in you to be my shopping companion. :p

And the stakes! They're too high!

Is this a threat or a promise? I can't quite figure it out...

It's an ambiguous innuendo to help you cry. :D

auntiehill, your cupcakes look fantastic! Beautiful, pure sugar. I love it.

*faints*

Oh, wait, you were talking about FOOD? Damn. I had such an image... ;)

... a person completely out of sugar? I'd faint at that image!

To match the new toys I've starting phasing MP3s out of my music collection in favor of lossless FLAC files.

Out of curiosity; can you actually hear the difference between them?

Somehow I suspect there are a lot of very happy people in your life!

The extra pillow is not just for crying. I can hug it and pretend I'm not alone at night... :p

And the stakes are non-negotiable. I have standards!

Now you can imagine how scared the Ghostbusters were when the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man appeared...

With my gear and my ears, it's noticeable with material 192kbps and below but it's almost always indistinguishable with 256kb and 320kb MP3s. Eventually I probably will have speakers with enough clarity to point out the flaws in any MP3 encode so moving to FLAC is in part a future-proofing endeavor. I also upped my main "media" drive from 500gb to 1.5tb so disk space isn't a problem.

Redwalll!!! I just couldn't resist doing that. I'm on book 5 of the Redwall series. So far, there are 20 books with number 21 to be released either later this year or early next year.

With a decent USB DAC and a solid pair of IEMs, the difference between the different rates can be rather noticeable--especially when EQed properly.

Costume making...

I've always designed stuff, but very rarely made it myself. After designing something I quite liked, I figured I'd make it myself... since than I've started my own project, am almost ready to start a BSG costume for the girlfriend, helping make a Two-Face outfit, creating entrance gear for a few wrestlers and coming up with a costume for my return show in September.

It's oe pf those things where I'm not sure why I started it, but it doesn't seem to be ending any time soon.

And also quite many that blames me for their hips expanding.. (ok, so does mine too.. but I can live with it  )

Same as usual: Literature, Poetry, Art, Astronomy, Paleontology, Anthropology, Physics, History, Philosophy and Roaring 20s Artistic Nudes.

Not biology? Don't you have any interests at all?
Actually, I do have an interest in Biology, especially Genetics. I have quite a few interests beyond what I listed-- Music, Computer Programming, Zoology, Folklore, and so on. Probably the best way to describe my interests is "The Arts & Sciences." :D

True, False, If, And, Or, Xor, Nand, Not...

You've missed out Nor, and Only If, and Equivalence. ;)
Not to mention "Maybe" and "But Wait."

I'm interested in people. And studying the scriptures. I just found that Crossway came out with their ESV Study Bible last year, I think I smell a Christmas present!

Sadly, nothing really Trek related.

Over the last few weeks I've been cross checking one of my sites for broken links and putting together a few new pages (the site went without an update for more than two and a half years). A similar sub-section of my main site is also in need of content additions... and I've been meaning to discuss one of my recent acquisitions in a page there.

Over the last three days I embarked on my semi-biyearly exercise of drawing immersions of manifolds from scratch (and from memory). I'm taking it a little slower than usual as I'm also attempting to document the technique that I use for generating the drawings. I generally use fold curves and level sets (example) to get started and cross check the final drawing using critical points (usually only if the drawing ends up really complex). It is a good mental exercise and it lets me work on my drawing skills a little.

Like I said, no Trek stuff so I'm sure most people would find it all pretty boring.

^Maybe not boring, but I am ashamed to admit that I did not understand a thing. Can you post something that shows the final result?

Can you post something that shows the final result?
Sure... here is three examples of the Real Projective Plane immersed in Euclidean three-space that I did a few years back.

They are sliced along the level sets that I used to construct them so you can see the internal structure.

Generally I just sit down with pencil and paper (and water and aspirin  ), and start constructions of them. Only this time I've been playing around a lot more with the drawing technique as they are meant to be shown when I'm done.

This has been the Summer of Porcupine Tree.

I discovered their music through a Rush fan site last year, and have been gobbling up anything I can get my hands on ever since. Last week I received live shows from Italy, San Francisco, Denmark, and London (10 discs in all).

I downloaded the Futile EP from the band's website yesterday.

And I've been arranging our Porcupine Tree Weekend in San Francisco, as the band is coming to the United States in September to tour behind their new album (which comes out in 6 weeks). There are 14 of us from all over meeting up for the show.

I tend to get a little obsessive when I find something new that interests me, so I've jumped into Porcupine Tree's music, videos, etc. with both feet. I really don't understand why these guys aren't massively huge. They're really quite brilliant.

These are awesome! I love how you're so creative and work with what you have. Cupcakes are a secret passion of mine. Or not so secret. When I get really stressed out, I bake cupcakes. I'm not nearly as creative as you, though.

You'll see yourself reflected in them... then you'll really go mad.

Don't worry though, it's a good feeling & a happy place.... :D

Oh dear, I think I'm already there and I just want the proper tools to deal with all of it. Also I need encouragement, not someone to dissuade me!

I'm the same way. The problem is, my husband doesn't even like desserts that much. It's ... just wrong.

But when I bake things, I'll often invite my brother over, drop off a batch at our neighbor's, or bring some into the office. I just try not to annoy people by constantly bringing them cupcakes and cookies and the like!
