What are you interested in right now?

I am very interested in moving away from this place and finding a new home closer to where I grew up.

I have gotten back into writing lately, but just for fun. It's purely for my own entertainment, as I rather...what's the word?....oh yeah: SUCK. But it amuses me and makes me feel a bit less like a failure when people on the particular website like what I've done. But it's embarrassing as hell, considering it's fan fic and I'd die of shame before I shared it with anyone I actually knew.

I've also discovered that I simply LOVE making cakes and cupcakes and decorating them. If I had someone to bake for, I could have TONS of fun making little designs and candy faces. The problem is I have no one to eat them and I really don't need to have more sweets in the house. I am completely artistically disabled--can barely draw stick figures--but I get such joy from decorating cupcakes, even on our very limited budget.

Here's some I made for the neighbor's kids last Halloween, with only some cake mix, icing and left over Halloween candy. I was proud of my little creation:

I made these last Easter. I used a pack of food coloring we had in the pantry to make the cupcakes rainbow colored on the inside, some Peeps that were on sale at the store (I hate Peeps, but they just were too cute to pass up) and some cake mix.

I know they're cheap and kinda sloppy looking, but considering I know sweet FA about cooking, I thought they were pretty good, especially since I did it with stuff we already had lying around the kitchen. And it was fun as hell to do. I just wish I had kids or friends to come over so I could do it some more. Hubby thinks it stupid and a waste of money but I really enjoyed it.

Right now now I'm documentary mode or sorts. I'm watching "New York: A Documentary Film", which is really a series of totally nice episodes each about 1.55 long. I mix that up with second season DVDs of "Grey's Anatomy". Yes quite interesting a mix.

Besides that the Swedish summer is nurturing my love of American cars.

Actually, if you read my post, you'd see I hate Peeps. Never could stand them, even as a kid. I just thought they'd be cute decorations.

You do realise you'll just find more things to puzzle over in there... :D

Yes but I'm hoping I can distract myself by studying others!

You'll see yourself reflected in them... then you'll really go mad.

Don't worry though, it's a good feeling & a happy place.... :D

You know we can dismiss this conjecture until you provide us with a formal proof.

You see, this right here is why I prefer Ethics to Logic. :p
Indeed, the two are very often than not mutually exclusive. ;)

Lies.

Sounds cool; what's the hold-up? Job?

They certainly brought a smile to my face (in a good way, not a mocking way). Very fun, and would go down a treat at my workplace for sure.

Shame you can't mail them over! :D

I figured you would love to see them distort and melt in the jousting bit. :D

And I hate Peeps too. Those things must be hell on the teeth. I can barely stand to look at them, let alone eat. *bleah*

auntiehill, your cupcakes look fantastic! Beautiful, pure sugar. I love it.

This might make an interesting thread.

Might? MIGHT?

ALL my threads are interesting! :p

Oh, hold your horsies, big crybaby! I was talking about a thread covering the metaphysical.
This one already bores me to tears. :p

Read Kafka's The Castle - a more damning indictment of our protocol and policy driven world you will not find.

Very good! I'll check it out. Thanks for the advice.

Something else I've been reading up on recently is the theory behind logical fallacies in online (or other) debate. Quite fascinating to know how to spot the logical fallacies, my delicious favourite being the old "So you're no longer a wife-beater?" trap.

I've also been learning about the "Chewbacca Defense". :guffaw:

I'm slowly but surely teaching myself music theory via the conduit of teh internets in the vain hope that said knowledge will fuse with my self-taught musical stylings to create a freakish hybrid of musical Frankensteinery...

Should I live in fear or hope that you succeed?
"Fearful hope" sounds about right. It's a twofer. Go on. Treat yourself!

True, False, If, And, Or, Xor, Nand, Not...

You've missed out Nor, and Only If, and Equivalence. ;)
also Maybe, If You Say So, Huh?, Not Bloody Likely and Feck It! That'll Do....

:D

I'll be crying into my pillow tonight. :(

Seriously (yes, I can be serious for brief moments, if I really force myself), it's a thought-provoking book and the more you think about it, the more you realise the world really is like it.

^ Great, thanks!

I'll be crying into my pillow tonight. :(

Pillow? Singular? You shock me time and again. Not a fan of a good pillow fight, are we. You should cry, harder than I can make you.

Equally seriously (As can I, but let's not keep it up for too long. It is quite vulgar.), I have now officially moved it up to the next book on my list; you make it sound immensely interesting. I'll finish The Metamorphis and then have a look at it.

In truth, I have two pillows on my bed, but they're so big, fluffy and soft (grade A1 hungarian goose down for that decadent touch) that you only need use one to sleep on.

As for whether I like pillow fights, the only way you will ever know is to share my bed... :p

You should cry, harder than I can make you

Is this a threat or a promise? I can't quite figure it out...

I've taken a renewed interest in music and how I listen to it recently. I replaced my logitech surround sound speakers with a proper set of stereo speakers, the Audioengine A5 active monitor set. I also pulled out my X-Fi soundcard and bought an external USB audio interface/DAC, the E-MU 0404 USB. To match the new toys I've starting phasing MP3s out of my music collection in favor of lossless FLAC files.
