What are you doing at this moment?

Just received my new carry-on luggage from Amazon. Looks good; double checked the dimensions and they are within limits. :techman: Though I'm two days early, I started test packing with some of clothes I plan to bring. My wife thinks I'm kind of anal in trip planning.

Enjoy your trip. The reason I like traveling by pickup within the Continental United States over flying, I have more legroom, comfortable seating, room for unlimited luggage, I don't have to worry about getting a rental vehicle at my destination, I set up a sleeping mattress in the cargo bed, I set the temperature where I like it, I have a great sound system and multimedia player, the seats can be either heated or cooled if I choose, and the pickup isn't made by Boeing. The only downside is it might take longer. But with the way the airlines overbook, or cut flights, have computer glitches, cause you to miss a connecting flight, weather delays, or when overworked air traffic control slows down the system, it might be quicker to drive, at least for me, I have fewer headaches, enjoy the drive, and feel better when I arrive.

Yeah, I usually drive, but this trip was just outside my driving range for a one day drive (the trip is ~630 miles and I'll pass through Chicago during rush hour). Plus, I'm getting old and I haven't driven a long road trip since before Covid (another unwanted side effect). Also, I'd be traveling alone since my wife is not coming with me to stay home with our two dogs, both of which are also getting old and one has medical problems.

If everything goes smoothly, the flight time is ~4 1/2 hours and my nephew will pick me up at the airport.
