Reviewing an email from Social Security Administration to log into SSA.gov. It was showing what my payment next year would be with the new COLA of 2.5 percent, after they take out $185 for parts A&B of Medicare and my additional voluntary federal income tax deduction. I see that I successfully stayed below the IRMAA brackets for another year, or they would have taken out more than $185 for parts A&B and an additional amount for part D.
This, again, except this time the show is not that weird due to the fact that it is Cheers.Sitting in the living room with some weird show my mum is watching in the background
I have a 457B plan from the last place I worked, and retired at age 55. 457B plans are like a 401K but for government agencies. I couldn't put any funds in Traditional or Roth IRAs while I worked at either Hughes Aircraft Company (HAC), or the public owned utility I retired from, because they both had defined benefit plans at the time I was working for them. My 401K from HAC had to put in a 401K rollover IRA when I started work with the public utility. Rollovers from a 401K directly to a 457B aren't allowed, because you can take early withdrawals from the 457B when you retire and not have to wait to age 62 like a 401K or IRA. I cashed out the rollover IRA at the end of the year when I turned 62. I also took out money from the 457B at age 64-66 to avoid IRMAA payments for Medicare, while also allowing me to delay Social Security payments until I reached 66.5 in December last year. I still have a lot of time before I have to worry about RMD's from my 457B, but the earlier distributions I made may be high enough that I don't have to have an RMD, or at least the amount will be less than if I waited to the last year to take distributions from the plan. I'll wait until the end of 2028 to see if there are any rule changes made by the federal government regarding RMDs from 457B plans.Have you reached the age that you have to begin taking out RMDs from your IRAs? I'm close.
Waiting to go into surgery.
Eating a raspberry jam doughnut. The jam has dripped on the plate...so I have been disgusting and licked the plate. I can do that because there's no-one else here to notice my appalling table manners.
Just don't tell anyone. Okay?
