What are you doing at this moment?

Was looking out at the doctor’s office parking lot while waiting for my appointment earlier today. It’s a very compact lot. Only one way in. Difficult to park if it’s partially full. A large SUV started to turn into the lot, saw how bad it was going to be and stopped. Vehicle behind it started honking so it continued forward. Sat there for a bit, then backed out to park elsewhere.

Trying to come up with songs named after women. So far:

- Roxanne
- Rosanna
- Diana
- Mandy
- Jessie
- Peggy Sue
- Sweet Caroline
- Aisha
- Maria, Maria
- Sara
- Susanne
- Cecilia
- Rama Lama Ding Dong

I know the girl the song is about is named Rama Lama Ding Dong, because the lyrics are very clear about it.

Really? This is that old song that goes "who put the bop in the bop-shoo-bop-shoo-bop"? I guess I will have to give it a listen!

ETA: OK, just listened on YouTube. I'm still not sure I get that. At one point he does say "and my honey, rama lama ding dong, forever", but I'm not sure that's implying that's her name, he's just seems to be referring to random musical sounds, as he was throughout the song.

And I guess it's "bomp", not "bop". Oops.

.
Just looked at the lyrics:
The line "I got a girl named Rama Lama Lama Lama Ding Dong" is used several times.

I don't think you've got the right song.

No Jolene?

Caroline.

Does "Brown Eyed Girl" count? Or "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress"?

"Proud Mary."

Ah! You are right! Thank you, I hadn't heard of that one before!

So it almost seems that the lyrics in (what I now know is called) "Who Put the Bomp?" that mention "rama lama ding dong" are referencing that song directly... and looking at Wikipedia, they seem to confirm that's the case. And in fact all the lyrics are apparently referencing other songs! I guess that's the thing about decades-old entertainment, you miss the references and in-jokes that the audiences at the time would have picked up on right away! I assumed they were just random words/phrases coined for this song.

Making Eggs Benedict. Hollandaise sauce is runny. Cooking site said to add starch, but I might've made it worse. Maybe it's because I made the sauce from a bag instead of scratch?
