was trying to pick out a tune "The Lonely Bull" on my mandolin. It's really more of a slide guitar or trumpet tune, i think. It just doesnt sound right. I wish I hadn't got wierd and put nylon strings on my tenor banjo a few weeks ago.. so im here reading threads instead
I just came back from work. I live under the roof and the apartment is already hot. Not as hot as my workplace. I have to do classes where job applicants have to write their applications. Including CV. It means working on PC workplaces the whole day. The class consisted of approximately 12 people. And they were sweating like hell with the heat in the room due to the hot weather and PC that were running hot.......
I use nylon strings on one of my guitars and slide technique is no prob with them. I have no experience with a banjo but it might be worth a try. Perhaps it works. The Lonely Bull was originally played on an ordinary (electric-)guitar but it sounds a bit like a slide guitar because there is a lot of reverberation. That's an effect you can't copy with an acoustic string instrument, I'm afraid. And I'm currently listening to The Lonely Bull =) Haven't heard that one in decades and totally forgotten about it. It's rather an earworm! Btw, do you know the Wild Cat Blues? That one might sound really great played on a banjo. Even one with nylon strings
listening to that now. thats awesome. Like the tenor banjo on rhythm on that piece. Not too loud or raucus. I thought it was a tenor guitar or an octave mandolin for a minute.
Glad you like it It's one of my favourites and I still have the original single from 1959 (pinched from my dad, heehee)
Working out on a stationary bike. I’m training for an Ironman and have to get weekday bike workouts in but do not feel comfortable biking on the road in rush hour or after dark. The one thing I will not miss from Ironman training. INDOOR BIKES. Especially when it’s a power workout.
^my heartfelt commiserations. I, too, loathe stupid routine work where the brain sorta runs in neutral. But if you think you're bad off: I'm currently summoning up mental strength for examining a sample that came in late yesterday afternoon. I only had a peek at it then and must now analyze it properly under the microscope. It's a mixture of silt, fouling sludge, dead plants and raw wastewater. The scent is the olfactorial equivalent to an F6 strength in a tornado... *sigh* can't be helped. I'm off now to my microscope
I have a day off. I have an appointment at the notary. We want to sell my father's house. Things have to be settled.....
Watching the Yankees/Indians and Rockies/Mets games, and finishing up packing for my NYC trip tomorrow
