What are you doing at this moment?

Sat down to eat and turned on a track and field championship taking place in Lima. Hardly anyone there in the stands. Don't even hear cheering. I suppose most family members can't just up and go to Peru whenever they want.

Funniest part of the broadcast is that you can hear the production team in the background, telling the camera operators what to do, switching to a different event and so forth. They're almost as loud as the TV broadcast team.

Finishing a letter to my cousin back in Illinois. He always writes in longhand and snail mails his to me. He is nearly 80 and I don't think he has a computer so I type my letter to him on my laptop and mail it off. He sent me some pictures of our parents when they were young kids, and some from the 40s during WWII. He's the only cousin that communicates with me now. All my aunts and uncles are gone, and it's nice to hear how he is and how the old home town is limping along.

Re-watching yesterday's Liverpool / Manchester United match

(you think American sports rivalries are intense? They ain't got NOTHIN' on this. English soccer rivalries are almost a blood sport. Especially this one. Liverpool / Man United is fucking LEGIT. Players, fans, even coaches, all hate each other's guts.)

UP THE REDS!!!! :techman:

I don't. Football fans around the world have a lot more violent interactions. It's amazing.

And speaking of which, right now I'm watching a video discussing the relationship of humans and the laws they create for their prized activities. The speaker is using sports as an example, but noting that when humans value something they often codify rules and laws around it.

It's a fascinating idea to me especially since studying psychology and understanding the foundations of emotions has led me to a simple idea that anger is simply the feeling of when a boundary has been crossed.
