I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often with how easy it is to get a license, how little punishment there is for driving without a license, pedestrians who cross without looking, pedestrians who cross expecting the vehicle to slow down for them even if they're jaywalking, and the increase in simply not paying attention.
I see people driving 20 over, treating roadways as speedways, and yellow lights as optional.
The number of near misses I've had, my wife has had, of late drives me crazy (no pun intended).

preparing for July 4th obviously. staying over at one of my sister's place during July 3rd and 4th
rest of July
lots of gaming. Metroid Prime 2 for my Gamecube, some games for my Playstation 3, games here are there for my Switch Lite
reading books : Wheel of Time books 10 and 11, Star Wars High Republic Temptation of the Force, old Star Wars books Dark Nest Trilogy, Stephen king's Talisman

You are so right! My mother-in-law was given a license even though she had macular degeneration and could barely see out of either eye. We had to wrestle the keys away from her.
