What are these things for??

We knew they lit up during alert conditions, but that's about it. I don't think TPTB ever established their purpose. Any speculation?

Their custumizable klaxon alert lights. The bridge crew can have a different image every month to break up the boredom of regular red alert situations. :D

I always thought they pointed the way to the crewman's quarters where they were distilling beer. I mean, after all, who drinks that synthol anyway?

They were the 24th Century equivalent of GNDN.

Pretty much.

I don't think they really did anything they where just there to look nice. They might have SOME computer function to adjust/monitor/whatever whatever is behind the wall there.

I was notcing how rough her face (and neck) looked and that god-awful wig from the first season. But, also, the lighting, makeup, and film-stock from the first season wasn't the best.

But, yeah, I guess the Twins look pretty good.

It's the "call turbolift" button or something?

I imagine the bridge's turbolifts are always there. Not only does the bridge lifts have a spot for a spare car, but we've never seen anyone ever wait for a turbolift on the bridge.

I imainge there's no need for a "call" button for the lift since the system probably just senses someone waiting by the doors and brings the lift itself. But there IS a little panel by the corridor lift doors that, presumably, has the call button on it (again, assuming one is even needed) and I think we've actually seen this happen.

Plus. It seems too far away from the lift to be the call button.

Those are those buttons that are everywhere. You know, the ones that are begging to be pressed, but you're not sure what'll happen if you do.

One of the unlabeled ones is probbly an Episode Reset button.

Hot redhead alert?

I always figgered it was a generic ship's computer interface.

Micahel Okuda had about 30 minutes of free time one day. The result is the interface panel shown above.

And yes, McFadden was hot.

I would guess that you can use it to get some kind of general status report or somesuch while waiting for the turbolift.

Gates McFadden used her own hair in Season One. She has thin, frail hair that very quickly loses its body and style under hot studio lights. When she returned for Season Three, the production supplied her with a range of very expensive wigs.

Riker and Shelby had to wait for a lift in THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.

And unless there's something hidden behind Crusher's elbow, that is the closest panel to the turbolift. Most likely it's a call button only used if the normal door sensors are offline. It might also be a manual control for access to the Bridge (to keep invading baddies from simply taking the lift up and jumping out to kill everyone.)

It always amazed me that there was always an elevator car waiting in the turbolift shaft whenever someone walked thru the doors even if someone else had just previously left a second before. Maybe there's an assigned number of elevators cars waiting in a storage or waiting area by each door and the panel is a status panel for how many is currently at that door since it's a high volume entrance??

Couldn't that be the doorbell for Picard's ready room? I always wondered what people were pushing when that door chime sounded.

Either that, or it signals a FEED PICARD'S FISH alert. :)

Thermostat?

Light switch?

Night light?

Hold door open, close door button for the turbo lift?
