What are the best trek series and why? Be objective.

Bloody hell. I am just trying to get along with my fellow trekkies.
Look at it this way. I love TOS and it's my favorite series, even though I think DS9 has better writing and stronger stories and characters. But while I feel that DS9 is "better," I grew up watching the TOS crew in the movies and they're the characters I'm most attached to. But both of those feelings are subjective. Just my opinion. There's no objective standard.

Sorry if you feel like we came down on you. I was going more for facetious poking fun, not pushing you around.

Thank you balocks decoy. This is the first trek forum i have been in. So i appreciate your understanding. By the way, where are the nuclear wessels?
Well we probably should've given you a gentler welcome. So...welcome! People here (myself included) can sometimes sound a bit prickly but I don't think anyone here means any harm.

If the premise of your question (if I understand it correctly) is basically, do you think there's a Trek series that's better than your favorite series, that's actually an interesting question and one that I've thought about a great deal after watching DS9.

Yes indeed. I guess that is what i should have asked. I worded what i said poorly. So what order did u watch trek in??

I think that if you look at Trek per episode, there are definitely episodes that can be objectively described as "good" or "bad" to varying degrees based on criteria such as the quality of writing and acting, strength of story structure, etc.

I would tend to rate VOY and ENT as weaker entries in the franchise as I felt they didn't add to much new. Sue I can like some of the characters and saw when those shows hit their stride they have some of the franchies best episodes.

I saw the TOS movies first when I was basically a toddler. I watched those until about middle school and that's when I started watching TNG reruns and going to the theater when the TNG movies came out. That was basically my ceiling of Trek involvement until the last few years when I rediscovered it and fell in love with it in a way I never had before. I started on TOS and right now I'm working my way through every series and movie. I'm currently at the tail end of DS9. Then I have VOY and ENT, although I've seen two seasons of ENT and like that a great deal.

But anyway, since I grew up watching the TOS crew and resonated so heavily with them when I finally saw TOS, that's probably always going to be "my" crew, even though DS9 took Star Trek into the stratosphere of quality storytelling and compelling, well-rounded characters. DS9 is a triumph.

I was tng, voy, ent, ds9 followed by tos. I know i was all backwards. The funny part is all of my family hate trek yet i loved it. Go figure.

My dad always preferred Star Wars. Not that it was a competition, but that's what he gravitated toward. I was the only one in the family who loved the VHS collection of the first six movies we had.

I love star wars as much as trek but the only good star wars movies are the first 3. But trek has much more depth and ability

My most favorite trek series is The Next Generation and Voyager. They were both great.

DS9 was good but uncertain if its my favorite or not.

Did not care for Enterprise and did not watch TOS (not going to though...I think I'll wait until there is a remake one if it happens after Discovery).

The Original Series was a great start and Star Trek was perfected in the Next Generation. It went downhill from there.

Best, TOS/TAS because Kirk & crew are still the foundation of all Trek for me. (A+)
Runner-up second best, TNG because it was the second Trek attempt by Gene Roddenberry after the TMP which I love too. (A-)
Good, DS9 I thoroughly enjoyed. (B)
Satisfying at times, I watched VOY and endured it to "Endgame". (C)
With the exception of season four, disappointing is the way I describe ENT. Once was enough for me to watch it's original run. (D)

Each of the spinoffs had their elements but VOY was the best. BUT... Then there is no best because they all had there Pros/Cons.

Don't get me started on the soap opera that is DS9 lol
