What are the 2 best eps of Season 3?

Enterprise Incident (of course) and

The Paradise Syndrome

I can't believe no one has yet mentioned the episode that takes place over a 2 month period, Kirk gets amnesia, and MARRIED, Spock wrecks the ship, and an angry mob stones a pregnant woman. Geez! Is that 50 minutes of woop ass, or what?!?

EI is good too.

Mine are:

The Enterprise Incident
Day of The Dove

But, I also think The Tholian Web and Elaan of Troyius are just as good...tough pick!

Mine are:

The Enterprise Incident-Classic pulse-pounding adventure. Joanne Linville matched Leonard Nimoy here as was previously pointed out, and it was fun watching Kirk as romulan. It even had humor, a third season rarity per Frieberger's dictates. "Jim, you better report to sickbay unless you want to go on looking like your first officer." :rommie:

Day Of The Dove- Tensions between Kirk's crew and the Klingons are well-played out here. That they come together against the real threat at the end was well-done too, still showing the rivalry with Kang and Kirk slapping each other's backs hard. :klingon:

Others that deserve honorable mentions- Elaan Of Troyius, The Savage Curtain, and Spectre Of The Gun.

"The Empath" and "Is There in Truth No Beauty?"

I would disagree on "The Mark of Gideon". It had the POTENTIAL to be a very good, intriguing episode but what wound up onscreen was unfortunately a confused and dreary mess.

Glad to see someone else likes ITITNB, one of my favourite S3 episodes.

Reading this thread reminded me that S3 isn't as bad as popularly believed - I find it hard to choose a top 2 out of:

The Enterprise Incident
The Tholian Web
Is There In Truth No Beauty
All Our Yesterdays
The Paradise Syndrome
Let That Be Your last BattleField
Spectre Of The Gun
Elaan Of Troyius

I also like Turnabout Intruder - Shatner's hysterical Janice Lester in Kirk's body is most entertaining.

^^^You basically made the point I wanted to make. ;) Looking at all these, I can't understand why so many think the third season is so bad.

By the way, my favorites of season three at Day of the Dove and Enterprise Incident. And like so many others, Tholian Web was a close third.

Enterprise Incident and Is There No Truth In Beauty

season 3 held up reasonably well in it's first half, and then utterly collapased

2 Best

Enterprise Incident and The Tholian Web

2 Underrated:

The Empath and Requiem for Methuselah

"the enterprise incident" and "day of the dove."

honorable mention "all our yesterdays," "spectre of the gun," "is there in truth no beauty?" and "the tholian web."

Day of the Dove is the best one I think.
I must say though I've come to have a new respect for Spectre of the Gun. In spite of a really ridiculous premise, the show has enough of a surreal feeling that it really comes across. The scenes where they are all mind-melding with Spock and when the Earps and Doc Holiday are walking towards the OK Corral are very effective. Almost spooky. Watch it again and you'll see what I mean.

Spectre of the Gun was an episode I hated back in the '60s and '70s but I love now. I find the cheap sets not off-putting at all any more, but instead quite evocative. Only Chekov's "love sick puppy dog" routine doesn't ring true, but I can forgive that sin. Spectre of the Gun has one of the most alien of all Star Trek planet settings, made even moreso because of the familiarity of the Western theme.

I've always liked 'For The World Is Hollow And I Have Touched The Sky' and 'All Our Yesterdays' a lot.

Honourable mention to 'The Tholian Web', 'The Empath' and 'Day Of The Dove'.

You know, I actually like most of S3. There's some great stuff in there. Of course, I wasn't alive when it aired in 1969. (Born in '82) But I grew up on TOS reruns, and I loved all of the seasons.

Yeah, that's another good one. I love 'Paradise Syndrome' as well.

"The Mark of Gideon" could be effectively creepy and atmospheric in spots, but those moments come nowhere near to making up for the wildly illogical and stupid plot.

Day of the Dove
All Our Yesterdays

Honorable mention:

Turnabout Intruder
