What are some plain stupid things from Season One?

Of course superseding something older isn't perfect, the rare Andorian in TNG are awful.
Not to mention every single Vulcan and Romulan having the same hairstyle, regardless of whether they're male or female, continuing over the course of centuries.

They weren't so cookie-cutter in TOS.

Doctor Who is a prime example of reinventing agreed. But they went far too far and have now ruined it. In the same way as I no longer watch Discovery as it became not Star Trek to me but just a flashy lights show spouting off modern day themes in a very aggressive manner.

Well these are all personal preference and highly subjective.

For myself, I haven't consistently watched recent Dr Who but I was referring rather to it's continued proliferation and worldwide success.

I think Discovery might be one of the closest to Roddenberry's ideals, so I'm slightly confused by you're opinion. The first season's background set to a war notwithstanding, it continually moves the franchise forward in exciting ways, although I am aware many prefer retreads.

Regardless, there are plenty of things out there for everyone to enjoy and I'm happy to be living in a time we can dip into the old stuff while the newer Trek is so wildly successful.
