What no love for the old DOS games?

Didn't anyone play "A final Unity?"

Having said that I wish it would have worked in Win 7 that was such a fun game.

Why can't they port the DOS games to iOS? That's what I want to know! Make special 'enhanced' editions, the voice alone is worth doing it for. I'd love to play a Final Unity or Klingon Academy on my iPhone!

    Would definitely be fun..

They would probably translate to a tablet well I guess.

Don't forget Star Trek 25th Anniversary.. Fun times

Judgement Rites and 25th Anniversary were better than Final Unity if you ask me. I'd play those again.

The last two are out on both Good Old Games and Steam.

    I would agree with you..

I could never get the hang of the space battles in 25th Anniversary. Much frustration ensued but I persisted till I beat that sucker :D

Bah... ask about "old" DOS games, and then start talking about stuff with *graphics*. What about "The Kobayashi Alternative"? What about Netrek? Git off mah lawn! ;)

(Seriously, though, I would STILL rank "The Kobayashi Alternative" as one of the best Trek games - up there with "A Final Unity" and the 25th Anniversary game. :techman:

No love for "The Rebel Universe"?

Or how about the Star Trek V video game, which let you battle up to 3 Bird of Prey ships.

I never got around to finishing "A Final Unity", but I enjoyed when I did play.

25th Anniversary for DOS and Judgement Rites were both awesome. They really felt like extensions of TOS.

(I was going to mention it, but since I had just played "crotchety old man" about graphics in general, I decided not to, since it actually had some - primitive - graphics. ;) )

In my day, the Enterprise was represented by an E and it was cutting edge! *shakes fist*

If I had the money I'd buy them and have them updated and expanded.

There were a few parts in A Final Unity that made me think of The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. Was that intentional and a nod to Douglas Adams?

I don't think Final Unity is all that great a game, personally. It certainly doesn't compare to 25th Anniversary or Judgement Rites.

I'm surprised we haven't seen some of the more recent Trek titles hit GOG. Stuff like Armada, Elite Force, and Birth of the Federation should be relatively straightforward releases I would think.

It depends though on who holds the rights to those games.. I'd imagine some legal issues.

They were originally published by Activision, which is now Activision Blizzard (or the other way around). Considering how bad things went when the license to them ended, getting a deal for digital distribution's going to be messy, I'd wager.

Why is that? What happened to make it messy?
