Marvel and DC does animated DVD movies to tie with their live action movies..
I think Trek could really profit from one without oversaturating the market.
What story would you want to see?
Personally, I'd like a film about Spock's early days in Starfleet Academy (since it was avoided in the film);
- Prejudice against him for being a Vulcan (since the Humans know what Romulans look like now...and there are open wounds from the Earth/Romulan wars)
- Pike taking command of the USS Constellation (the first Constellation class ship that was supposed to be "Enterprise" in the prime timeline)
- Spock as Pike's science officer; with Boyce, Tyler, Number One (named Barrett) etc
- Captain April as the Constellation's original captain (and he's given Gene Roddenberry's image)
It would be something fun for the fans without messing things up for a potential sequel with Kirk and the gang.
They could do a 'Balance of Terror' story involving contact with the Romulans of 2250
