WHAT A TREAT!!!!

"The Higher Ground" really throws into uncomfortable relief the ambiguous line between freedom fighting and terrorism, I think. The Irish example is valid enough: I'd say that the 1919-21 War of Independence was freedom fighting, and the 1967-97 'Troubles' was factional terrorism. But that's a pretty murky line in the sand, and it's all wholly relative. The terrorist comparing himself to George Washington in the episode with Crusher raises an apt American analogy of the ambiguity, as well.

What's really dated is the cynical belief that there would be a violent Irish Reunification. Star Trek is always optimistic about the human future... except the immediate future, where we'd have genocidal supermen in the nineties, addict soldiers to drugs and nuclear World War III in the 21st century, not to mention this little bit. ;)

The last "new" episode that I saw was the one where they find the Enterprise and the Romulan ship "frozen" in a moment in time, right before a warp core breach. I thought I had seen them all but I was wrong! Afterwards, I read the summary of all episodes to see if there were any more that I had missed. Sadly, there were not.

Off topic slightly but I know there are heaps of Simpsons and South Park episodes I've never seen.

Oddly enough, The Higher Ground was the last 'new' one I saw, despite the fact that I'm in the US. I just never managed to catch it until a few months ago. Everything else has been checked off the list for years. The best I can look forward to are a few 'new' Voyagers that aired during the year or two in the middle in which we lost our UPN affiliate. I can never remember to watch Enterprise, but I know there are a few from it I haven't seen either. I'd like to catch TatV some day, if only to see the Enterprise-D one last time.

I've seen every episode of every Trek series, except one ... TNG's "Skin of Evil".

I missed it the first time it was aired, then missed it when it was rerun. I've had many opportunities since then, but I like the idea that there's still some "new" Trek out there for me, someday, when I choose to watch it.

And yes, since I have all the episodes on dvd, I can watch it any time. Maybe ... maybe.

I think TNG is the only series that I've confidently seen every episode of. A lot of TOS, most of TAS, a few VOY, most of S1 and S2 of DS9, and my son broke the disks that make up the latter half of ENT S3 so I'm a bit upset that I can't finish the Xindi arc. I would be VERY surprised to see and ep of TNG that I've never seen. Maybe one that I saw a while ago and forgot most of, but I've been watching TNG for close to 20 years and I doubt that I've all together missed any.

I have been watching TNG on and off for 20 years, I figured I'd seen them all two-five times.

Ir is a rare treat to feel like I have only seen an episode once or twice and.... I am going through the DVDS of TNG with Netflix.....

and I finally found an episode I hadn't seen!

"The Chase"

Wow and I am loving it too, it's probably going to be one of all time favorites.

There's nothing like "new" good TREK! :)

Sethie

One HELL of an episode! I jumped out of my seat when I saw that episode in 1993. The repercussions of the events, the thoughtful ending, the growth of Picard's character...I could watch it over and over.

RAMA

Well said Rama, yeah it was GREAT. What a freaking cool ending.... I don't put a lot of faith in the "we were made by aliens" idea, and man do I get chills whenever I see it in a movie or on a TV.

peace!
