wha thappened to the show's sets? Where they thrown out ?

I think parts if not most of them were or are being sold in some of the auctions that have been going on the past few years. I think both of the Captains chairs were sold in the Christies auction last year (or was it the year before)

Re: What happened to the show's sets? Where they thrown out ?

Sad but true. There was a documentary about the event back in '06 and it opened with Nimoy walking & talking in front of an ENT shuttlepod. The contents of an entire hangar was shown being sorted by the Okudas for auction.

I caught these handful of photos from their online catalogue before they went. Sniff. :(

Away Team Jacket from "Broken Bow"

Phase Pistol

Communicator

Archer's Cochrane Statue

Starfleet floor emblem from "Demons"

Captain's Chair (S1-3, "Storm Front")

Captain's Chair (S4, Nemesis)

I think, at this point, all of the existing sets from the various Trek incarnations have been destroyed and/or thrown away. A lot of Trek props, set pieces and costumes were auctioned off. Some are being used for the Star Trek Tour. And I'm sure there is still a big warehouse full of stuff on the Paramount lot. But the overall sets themselves are gone. TNG's sets had to be destroyed to make room for VOY. VOY's sets had to be destroyed in order to make room for ENT. And once ENT was over, the sets weren't carefully disassembled and put into storage. The show was cancelled - they figured they wouldn't need them again.

The Enterprise-E sets were taken apart and put into storage between films. I suspect, at this point, Paramount may have had them thrown away. We'll never see the TNG crew on that ship again, so why take up valuable space? I don't think J.J. Abrams needs them!

I's sure it was half was given-up to the fans and such, while allot of the sripts were scraped. :(

Actually, many large pieces of the NX-01 sets survived the show and made it to auction. The IAW auctions on ebay have sold many, many pieces of the bridge and engineering (some of them quite large), as well as set dressings from most of the main characters quarters. The shuttlepod itself was sold off (although not through ebay, I think) as well as several of the dummy torpedoes seen throughout the series in the armory. These still pop up from time to time, although the auctions are winding down. They tend to go for quite a lot of money, as one would expect.

For those who don't know, there are weekly auctions from It's a Wrap on ebay. This week for example are probably 20 Enterprise pieces. Costumes dominate, but there are often consoles, weapons, other props.

Bits and pieces got sold at that massive auction that the History Channel and Nimoy did that documentary on. The rest was probably trashed or recycled into crap to use in future CBS/Paramount productions.

After seeing this post I checked out the auctions, bid and won and item. It was a bit of a splurge for me and the item sold for close to the maximum I would pay. I was shocked upon receiving an invoice. They are trying to charge me $180 dollars to ship an item that is only 18 inches in diameter. One week and two emails later I still cannot get an answer to why shipping is so expensive or even how they plan to ship. This has not been a good experience.

I bought Trip's camera and the captain's mess dinner set ages ago. They charged me an excessively amount of postage (practically 3 times the amount it cost him) and it took pratically 2 months to ship both items.

For that reason alone, I refuse to buy any more.

I wish I had possessed the spare spending cash or credit to buy TREK props.

You and me both, cooleddie. I must have spent a few hours studying that Christie's online catalogue, at all the sets and costumes, before I realised I'd never be able to afford a series remount... :p

I'd have loved a piece of Phlox's sickbay equipment...maybe his Pyrithean bat or tribble cage. Or a standard ship's uniform with patches.
