I'm happy to have a remake of Westworld. I'd love to have the same director of Surrogates (2009) Jonathan Mostow direct this as he was able to get some very android-like performances from actors and used some trickery to do it too as mentioned in the DVD commentary.

There was a TV series "Beyond Westworld" (1980) created you may not have heard of:
plot summary:

features John Moore, Security Chief of the Delos Corporation, the company that created the killer robots seen in the films. Now Moore must deal with an evil scientist named Quaid, who has taken control of the lifelike Delos robots, and plans to use them in his plot to conquer the world.

Nominated for 2 Primetime Emmys in 1980- Makeup & Art Direction for the pilot episode.

Four years later, in 1980, the CBS television network aired a short-lived television series, Beyond Westworld, expanding on the concepts and plot of the first film with new characters. Its poor ratings caused it to be canceled after only three of the five episodes aired.

What do you guys this of this remake? I'd like to not have less than the original of the park's other two themed zones: MedievalWorld (medieval Europe), and RomanWorld (pre-Christian Rome) and have it more of a Western movie and futuristic Earth.

It could be really awesome, and I think this is a decent project for a remake.

I don't think they will ever top Yul Brynner as the villian though. That was perfect casting.

Agree and I’m watching the classic original right now for the second viewing tonight in Dolby stereo 4.2.4 matrix scope 2.35:1 true anamorphic lenses.

You can almost bet the remake will have over the top CGI and mostly like filmed in Super35 sigh.

Now, if I can watch this twice in one evening and it’s not the first time I’ve seen it. It’s more like 20th or more time! Well tell you the truth I’ve lost count?

wow I haven't seen Westworld in over 10 years.
Looking at those framegrabs the studio lighting isn't very inspired.

I'd like to see the remake's lighting & saloon looking a lot more like
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) [and yes sorry Epsilon-9, it's Super 35 format.]
which to me looked pretty natural lighting.
the cinematographer was Roger Deakins who also did No Country for Old Men (2007) which to me was some amazing very natural lighting.

I watched it 4 times last night! and poor ole “Avatar” on bluray is a huge flop in this JBL home cinema. Only watched it once! overlong boring reminded me of Aliens. I’d sooner watch “Titanic” 4 times.

“Westworld” just plays out nicely at 85 minutes or 90 minutes if it was at 24fps and not PAL 4% speed-up.

Maybe the settings are too low on the screen captures PowerDVD? The film looked bright and sharp on the CRT widescreen. I can’t be asked to run the LCD video projector not even for “Avatar”.

I prefer classics now, I’ve just really about had enough of poor remakes for the sakes of CGI and ear bending Dolby digital sound! It just doesn’t appeal to me no more.

It might appeal to kiddies out there that haven’t seen the original.

There was another robot film remake a few years back called The Stepford Wives (2004) original was (1975).
