Were there any “jocks” or “party girls” who liked sci fi or fantasy in the 90s?

How surprised would a 1990s American high school be if one of their rich football players liked Babylon 5 and considered Commander Sheridan, the show’s main protagonist to be an “All American hero” and wanted to be a military officer, astronaut, and diplomat after he finished college?

Would such a person be unrealistic in the 90s?

How was joining the military viewed in the 90s? Was it something only poor and working class did? Could an Babylon 5 fan who was a popular football player from Beverly Hills or Orange County who ended up doing ROTC and going through a military career relatively unscathed during the 90s-early 2000s exist?

My best friend from college was hawt.. I mean really hawt. And she has not aged. And she totally love Star Wars. She's been married for many years now and she and I still talk Star Wars. she imparted her love of the franchise to her kids

Sci Fi was actually fairly popular in the 90s. You'd be surprised. I knew plenty of jocks and people who didn't fit the stereotype of a nerd that was into the original Star Trek, and many others who loved TNG.

The 1989 Batman film was an event that was considered cool, and a lot of that was due to growing up on reruns of the 1966 Batman.

The original Land of the Lost, which reran a lot in the 1980s, was always considered a cool show.

Movies like Back to the Future and ET were not simply made hits by nerds. Sci Fi was quite mainstream then, maybe even more than today.
