Reminds me of the early Klingon translations (John M. Ford/FASA?) of a disruptor as being the "shake-it-til-it-falls-apart weapon".

Shame we're not using them rightdamnnow. I've got a virus from Hell that I'd love to take a laser set for its resonance frequency to.

And people thought I was loopy with using resonance frequency tech in a story way back when. Ha! Vindication!

Like most advances in medical science, though, this also has the potential to be Very Bad. Resonance frequency technology used as murder weapon would leave little, if any, forensic evidence. If this ever makes it to production level tech, the cops are going to have to be two steps ahead.
