Advances in science will eventually allow Humans to live forever. I really don't think we're far off. Whether or not this technology, medicine, science or whatever you want to call it is discovered/invented the main question that we should be asking is will it be made public and will it be made available to the general population.

The population of the planet is unsustainable, giving out cures for old age and death wouldn't be the most logical course of action.

Even if a supernova occurred, the radiation would not be damaging from the distance we are away from that star. A gamma-ray burst could be destructive from thousands of light-years away but the burst is transmitted along the rotational axis of the star. So long as it ain't pointed at us, we're fine.

I remember when Stephen Hawkin told an elementary school science gathering that our world be destroyed if such a thing happened...The teacher said the kids the faces all went white when this strange man with a VOX box said this to them...
