Well they mention Prime Spock in the new film?

I realize this may sound like a dumb question but I was curious since with the passing of Leonard Nimoy if they would consider somehow mention Prime Spock in this movie. I know in TNG they mentioned Spock a few times after Unification, so I thought they might do the same here.

I'd be happy with 'In memory of Leonard Nimoy' before the start of the film. Let Spock live on in legend.

See other discussion of this question in threads:

Poll: should Nimoy be in XIII?
I have to ask
Memo to Bad Robot: Please include a tribute to Leonard in the new film

Probably others, as well.

Yeah I agree Smell. I would rather they not mention Spock passing. First it would seem out of place second fans of Spock would be thinking about the characters death during the film. Its more fun to just think Spock will continue to help people, maybe get back to his universe and live to be in his 200s like Sarek(I'm calculating he would be about 155 now).

Exactly, it's bad enough we've lost him. I like the thought that he's living on, setting up new Vulcan etc.

I'm of the opinion that SpockPrime should rest in peace along with the actor who played him. The alternatives seem to be leaving him in limbo forever or recasting, neither of which are appealing to me.

But they already recast Spock, there's this actor named Zachary Quinto......

But that's in no way prime Spock or if you will "old Spock."

A appearance of Nimoy/Spock in some way (CGI, whatever) in the next film would be fantastic, a short scene, a face on the communications screen, letting the fans know that the character does live on.

:)

I'd prefer they mention him, alive.

I really liked that in Trek novels of recent years, the ancient Dr McCoy and slightly less ancient Scotty are still around and doing good in the post-Nemesis era. The actors may pass, but the characters never have to. Same for Spock Prime in the AU.

If there's leftover footage from the two previous movies, they could still do a tag scene with Shatner and "fly" Nimoy into it. It's probably in bad taste, and I am not an advocate at this point, but it could be done.

I think I'd rather just see a dedication at the beginning, like the Challenger one in TVH.

Maybe the closing campfire scene from TFF tacked on as a stinger ...

The most tasteful way to do it would be just an 'in memoriam of Leonard Nimoy' card at the start, or end of, the film.

Maybe mention the character as rebuilding Vulcan, or something, but no appearance via CGI or doppelganger is required . Old Spock's character arc is complete .

Hopefully they don't go the Christopher Nolan route like he did with Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight Rises". i.e. The Joker is never mentioned ONCE. Even when characters refer to instances in the Dark Knight where the scenes in question were specifically about the Joker.

This.

Maybe it requires no more than a brief sentence of Spock's "older counterpart" doing something on New Vulcan in a line of passing dialogue.
