Hey

So what's everyone been up to? This place has been very quiet lately.

I'm enjoying my 11 days off at the moment. I finished my last final last wednesday, and I've been doing pretty much nothing useful since. :D I've only got one quarter of college left, then I'll be done. :D I'm only taking one real course this quarter. Besides that, we (me and two partners) are doing a project for the Canadian Forestry Services. It should be interesting. :)

That's about it. I'm really looking forward to Closer coming out on DVD tomorrow. I have to say that it was probably my favourite movie of 2004, and I cannot wait to see it again. :)

Oh yeah, I also watched the first ep of the new Doctor Who (I've never seen any of the previous incarnations) and I have to say that I really liked it. It was very quirky, but in a good way.

That's it from me, hopefully someone else can contribute to this thread aswell.

Well, I've been busy looking for a new job. :(

There has been no work in my office since the end of January, and many of the employees are looking around.

It sucks to look for a job. :p

Amen to that; I've been out of the workforce for a few years, and am trying to gear up to look for a job. At least I have my resume ready, now I just have to figure out where to start looking... :(

Good luck with that, Vash. :)

I haven't been posting in the thread much, have I? I figured it stood a better chance of survival that way. My thread-killing skills are unrivalled. :D

Good luck Vash. I'm sure everything will work out for you. :)

Thanks guys!

Ya'll just keep sending good karma my way - I could use it!

I have a couple of interviews this week...we'll see how things go!

Hoping you get em' Vash! :)

(just don't mention any of your strange obsessions with Bloom or Flanigan)

Keep us posted! You'll be in my thoughts & prayers.

I know this is prolly not the best way to follow a statement about prayer, but I'll be leaving soon to catch Sin City :D Man, am I looking forward to this one!!

I read on another site that 2005 seems a pretty dismal year for good flicks like this one & Hitchhiker's Guide to show up in, but for me it's these movies in particular that will make 2005 a banner year for me

^ Yeah, 2005 looks like it could be a pretty good movie year. There's Sin City, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Star Wars ep III, Batman Begins, and Serenity. And that's just the titles I'm looking forward to the most.

Anyway, you're going to an early showing kev. :) Me and my g/f are going with four or five friends of ours tonight. We're either gonna go see the 9.45pm or the 10.15pm showing. :)

^I knew I needed to see it early Friday cause I probably wouldn't have any time until later this week to see it. And I just couldn't hold out that long!!!!!

;)

I'm glad I saw it though. Sin City was crazy wild!! Wow, I mean, wow! It's an interesting commentary on how in this city where you can find just about anything around every corner, the good guys are the ones who seem to have the seediest lifestyles. Prostitutes, assassins and lowlifes are the heroes while politicians & religious figures are hateful foes who protect the truly evil characters in the city. This movie kinda reminds me of Mel Gibson in Payback, only this time the gloves are really off!

I won't go into a long review (though I have one if y'all want ;)), but I'll say this. Most characters are VERY faithful to the comics, which is a great thing. Even Jessica Alba as Nancy was quite titillating though she wouldn't go nude (darn ;)) Overall, this adaptation doesn't try to change characters or events to try to seem more real. And I'm very glad they didn't try to make this more PC or turn it into a PG-13 flick (they learned that lesson from Spawn's failure).

It's visually stunning, dark, violent, gratuitous but rich in character, sometimes even funny. It's a definite repeat in theatres

I'm thinking about taking my wife to go see Sin City this weekend. Any other reviews? Anyone not like it? :)

Well, there's a big thread in General TV & Media about how much people loved the movie. Basically, about 95% of the people I talked to that have seen the movie at least liked it. Most of us loved it. :)

So what's everyone been up to? :)

Me? Not much, school started again, but it's been really easy so far. We're gonna start coding out project this week, so that should be fun. :)

I got Apollo 13 (Special Edition or whatever it's called) the other day, haven't watched it yet. Yeah, that's about it. :)
