Weirdest and must unusual opinions you have heard others say about Star Trek?

All lead captains are American, except one; Captain Lorca is not a lead role.
The "except one" he's referencing is clearly Picard. And then he's saying Lorca isn't a lead role in case anyone wanted to chime in with him. I don't get how many of you don't see that.

I mean at the end of the day they're American TV shows filmed in Hollywood. So the fact that they have a lot of American actors around and use them isn't that much of a shock.
But yeah "in-universe" I agree to some extent. I'm not bashing ENT here as I like it a lot, but it was meant to be "humans first go out into deep space." And instead it really is just "Americans first go out into deep space... Plus the stereotypical American portrayal of what a British person must be like."

Bar some exceptions, and especially in the "modern shows" a lot of the time there's a main non-white character, they will still be just American anyway.

Again, obviously I can accept it's due to real world limitations of how it's done, but I would like to see a really diverse Trek cast

He was so completely bothered by the TOS 60s aesthetic. To him, the TOS uniforms and the ship and console designs didn't look futuristic at all. It looked cartoonish to him.
Someone I worked with said Star Trek looked seemed cartoonish. I'm not sure if they meant just TOS or all of them. But they liked Star Wars. I asked them if they thought there was anything in Trek that was more cartoonish than some of creatures seen in the Mos Eisley cantina or Jabba's palace.
