Trek dropped around 33%, which is its second best weekend drop. It'll be interesting to see the final numbers since Imagine That and Star Trek's numbers aren't too far apart. Trek was actually ahead of it on Saturday and Sunday.

Star Trek is now #61 on the all-time domestic list.

Once international numbers come out, Star Trek should be at around $350 million global.

At the rate Up is making money, it will probably pass Star Trek as #1 movie of the year in less than two weeks.

We're now at my intial expectation for Trek's total domestic gross.

Glad to see that I was horribly wrong. :)

Wow, we're at over $230 million and it's still the middle of June, earning $5 mill a weekend? I think it'll leave theaters with a little over $250 million now.

Nice hold again...! Not sure of Trek can stay long enough to outlast Land of the Lost, but Imagine That is a real possibility.

Assuming 33% for next weekend, it'll be 3.8 million, after which all bets are off with Transformer 2 coming out...

I'd say 250 is just a tad out of reach, but this will be the highest earner among the Trek movies adjusted for inflation.

And the next one... hope it'll be 2011 and not 2012, frankly...

Better start saving up, either way.

I'm at 7 viewings right now--if my local IMAX gets it mid-month, I'm committed to 2 more.

Committed. It's what my wife thinks I should be. :p

How far is the closest IMAX still playing Trek. The chances of it getting picked up is getting smaller since Transformers is less than two weeks away now.

Well the one in my town shows the standard Sharks in 3D fare (also good), and just a year ago picked up Dark Knight, followed by The Watchmen and 300 (currently).

Heck, they may never play Trek there, I guess it depends if they are wed to a single studio or are free to take all comers.

I'll shoot another e-mail off today, just in case. If not I'll have to go just one more time to double my Nemesis viewings... :p

Granted I live in a medium sized market (Indianapolis), but XI is on 3 local IMAX screens this past 2 weeks. Two of those theaters have 2 showings a day and the Kerasotes IMAX has one daily at 9:30pm. 175-200 people were there on Saturday night.

The local manager told me they were sorry to have to put Night In The Museum on IMAX at all because Trek has done so much better for them (and is, in his opinion, not only a far superior movie but takes better advantage of the format).

I'm kinda bummed Transformers is gonna keep the new HP out of IMAX for a couple weeks after its release. But I have to admit the IMAX presentation is my favorite way to see XI, if only for the sound alone.

I'm hoping to get at least 2 more showings in before it's gone. Interestingly enough, I've talked to a lot of people at the showings I attended who were repeat XI viewers but who were seeing an IMAX presentation for the first time.

I have my reservations about the movie but it is a fantastic reinvigoration for the franchise. I hope the next movies manage to be substantive as well as exciting, I kind of fear that the success of the movie might lead the suits into thinking they know what the series needs and start getting their hands in it.

Still, it's crazy numbers, on a personal selfish note I feel vindicated by my long-held position that a break would only strengthen the franchise not kill it as some thought when Enterprise went off the air and that such a thing was only a few years away.

nice numbers looks like $240 is gettable may pass it but $250 is just out of our reach this time around. Any idea on OVERSEA's numbers ?

Not yet, but I think it should have pushed the global total to $350 million.

Isn't it awesome that Star Trek is beating new movies like Angels & Demons, Terminator Salvation, Drag Me To Hell and now possibly Imagine That.

Cool. I mean seven viewings was more than I could afford anyway, and the next film I'm going to see is Transformers.... but I've done my part for Trek. :p

This is really great.

Indeed it is... :)

How does Eddie Murphy keep conning money out of the studios with his track record of late?

Star Trek will beat out Imagine That, I think... the only question is... Land of the Lost.

That's probably about the last gasp in terms of "outlasting" more recent releases though.

Remind me to send you the outtakes from my recording session with Optimus' voice guy.

Absolutely. This would get me all fan-girlish.

You realise what would happen should there ever be a Gossip Girl film.... :D
