News Wednesday, April 19 - Star Trek: Picard Finale in IMAX

Gonna try to get to the LA imax as early as possible and report back! Still can't believe i was able to snag tickets on that disaster of a website
Spoil it all, I want to know! Just put it in the spoiler tag in the episode thread when you get back

In line now! Seems like we're around 100ish in line out of like 115. Theater ppl said capacity is 200. Also mentioned some issue for the previous (?) sceening at 6pm pt with being over capacity? Didn't know there was one at 6.

We finally got into the theater in LA. I have a feeling they did the Q&A before we were let in, maybe with the press ppl? I guess ppl in the other cities screenings would actually know, assuming it was livestreamed. Ooh Terry Matalas just showed up and is talking to us now!

Yeah, it was live streamed from there. There seemed to be two screenings in LA, a non-public one which was followed by the Q&A being livestreamed to the 9 other theaters. The level of applause over the livestream made it seem to me that the LA theater was not full for the first screening. Enjoy!

Wow. No spoilers here. Just want to say it all was so fantastic on the big screen. Ready for a full season theater binge presented by Fathom... hopefully one day?

And post the poster :D

pretty nice poster - not too big, perhaps about 11x14

So how was it? Hopefully the picture wasn’t too dark.
For me it was immediately evident that the picture quality was miles better than what I've been experiencing at home. Scenes on the Titan bridge, for example, fell within a great sweet spot of "dark, but nothing obscured at all." There wasn't a single scene where I felt things were annoyingly presented in terms of brightness and contrast. Literally my only complaint is that there seemed to be some kind of very dim, soft spotlight left shining on a small portion of the screen, which could be noticed on all-black cuts. I was surprised by how great everything looked on the giant screen. I had expected there to be some obvious issues due to blowing up the picture so much in size, but at least to my untrained eye it truly all looked fantastic.

Matalas, Stashwick, and Chestnut spoke to the crowd for a bit at the start. Stashwick in particular was a hit as he threw some charm and wit at us. The audience shouted out several "Star Trek Legacy!" requests and on one occasion thanked Matalas for being "one of us" to which he responded "Yes, I am!"
