Websites offline due to server failure

It seems there are 'scores' of sites that aren't accessible today due to a web hosting glitch?! I don't know the sites mentioned in the opening part of the piece but the tweet by BoxOfficeMojo says they believe this to be the issue with their site being down as well.
Scores of well-known websites have been unavailable for large parts of Thursday because of problems with Amazon's web hosting service.

Foursquare, Reddit and Quora were among the sites taken offline by the glitch.

Amazon EC2 is the retailer's cloud computing business. It provides processing power and storage to companies that do not have their own data centres.

No reason has so far been given for the outage.

Anyone else encounter a site problem that you couldn't explain today?

I go to Box Office Mojo once every few months, but I tried, and failed, earlier today.

So, thanks for the heads up.

Playstation Network is down, rendering my ability to get onto Netflix impossible.

Just wanted to say that yeah, PSN has been down for awhile, but I can still use netflix on my PS3. I load up the Netflix app (or whatever you want to call it) and the PS3 prompts me for my password/username (I have it set to always do this so YMMV). I select sign on. Moments later it automatically signs me out or says the network is down or gives me a DNS error or some variation on the "NOPE" message. Netflix is still loading. The PS3 will then go through this a few times more (I always choose to 'sign in' even though I know it won't work), and then it gives up but Netflix is fully loaded. The sign in attempts vary. I've had it as low as two times to as many as around eight. But every time I can get to Netflix and watch things normally.

I don't know if this works for everyone, but I don't see why I'd be a special case.

I'll try it out, I'm way behind on my viewing of "Rescue Me" (sort of lost interest) and I gave up on watching "Dexter" sicne the Showtime/Netflix deal crashed. But in the past when I've tried getting onto Netflix when I wasn't connected to PSN I was told I had to be conencted to PSN for it work and even selecting a title got me a "Nope." But I'll check it out, maybe I wasn't pervasive enough.

PSN network being down I couldn't give two shits about since it's pretty much worthless to me.
