We just hit syria

UncleRogi, I've asked you several times before to put more effort into threads you've started, or else you can wind up with a spamming warning. As Ichab said, the bare minimum you should have provided would be a link regarding the subject matter of the thread. If you're tablet somehow prevents you from doing that (which I find dubious) then perhaps you should hold off on starting a thread until you can do so properly. But just posting one word opening posts is not acceptable. If the subject wasn't something of significance I would have shut it down.
Point taken, Sir . panic mode watching the orange one telling me I'm better for Syria being bombed

The TV news should be buzzing...excuse my concern

Apologies

(And yes, the virtual keyboard goes in and out so I bounce between my comp and tablet.
Frustration doesn't begin to have meaning until the tablet tells you you didn't mean
To say that)

I wonder how Russia will play this? The World Cup is in 2 months. If Putin wants to welcome the world to his doorstep and act like he's a friendly guy....what's he gonna do? Interesting.

Doubtful that might happen now...
More dominoes have to fall for there to be a war. Right now, Russia and Iran are alone. Iran is completely useless, and if they do anything, Israel will swat them like a bug. So....Russia is the only one worth any attention. The question is, what CAN they do? Will Putin jeopardize looking good this summer for his Syrian "ally"?

That is the question...

Wanted the Folk to know....

Oh good, we're getting more deeply involved. I'm sure this can only turn out well for the countries with more money.

Politicians who never learn from history are doomed to repeat it
WE bomb Syria yet sell arms to Saudi....you could not make this shit up!

Syria's chemical weapons program has been of concern since the Seventies. The recent attack of Khan Sheikhoun was brutal. The images from the film footage was horribly disturbing :(

If development facilities are being targeted, well...

Really should provide at least one link if you are starting a thread.

Wow even France is joining in.

An international coalition is needed.

Syria was already a mess, even before the US interceded under Obama (2011?).

Even Candidate Sanders was up for reasoned foreign policy, as much as Clinton was given what she said during the campain. Trump's heart was in the right place, but since being elected he gets to deal with generals and intelligence closer than anyone here and few prior to the election would.

https://www.thenation.com/article/bernie-sanders-the-foreign-policy-realist-of-2016/

The article points out Sanders in support of a multinational coalition.

Does Sanders propose naïve, idealistic, and radical approaches to them? Not at all. His call for a broader coalition on policy toward Syria—coordinating with Russia and neighboring Muslim states toward a managed transition, to avoid the even-greater chaos that a sudden collapse of the Assad regime would trigger—is in fact the direction in which Washington and our European allies have recently moved

Sounds not unreasonable to me.

One can either abandon the country outright or try to fix it. The latter might lead to things getting better or worse. But people are free to convince that doing the former ends up with a nation of daisies and unicorns, pardon me while most of us won't agree with that fantasy. The one simplest fact still remains: It's been a mess, even before 2011 that prompted action.

I wonder how Russia will play this?
Verbal posturing, some overly close fly-by of American warships, and that's probably about it. Putin won't do anything that will hurt his country financially.
The fact that Donald has the backing of the UK and France speaks volumes.
America backing the UK recently (smart move Donald) showed the UK who it's buddy is.
You got to love the United Nations Security Council - ineffective and becoming increasingly irrelevant.
The UN has been largely ineffective and irrelevant for decades, it's not a case of "becoming." Needs to be replaced (not fixed) with a organization that serves a purpose and has complete transparency.
Oh good, we're getting more deeply involved. I'm sure this can only turn out well for the countries with more money.
Or the Syrians who don't want to live under Assad.
One can either abandon the country outright or try to fix it.
Or give support to Syrans, who would then (maybe/hopefully) fix the country themselves.
I can hope if the ambassador is called to Putin's office, he'll tell him the Russians helped throw the election Donald's way.
Is there anybody left who still believes this?
