Do you know what's sad? I'm bet that somebody somewhere on another trek board posted something similar to this, and was serious.

All six of them.

Oh, I thought that was the "He-Men Woman Haters Club."
So why don't they just say that they're making this more epic and action-packed than the previous movies without bringing up Star Wars? I'm sure there are already fans out there worried that this movie is going to be a Star Wars rip-off that uses Star Trek names to cash in on the recognition. Why compound that? Why not take a moment to consider his words? It's not like they're making a Star Wars movie under the name 'Star Trek'. They're taking the best elements of Star Wars (adventure, high quality action, an epic scale) and insert them into this Star Trek movie. Sounds good to me!

Writers like to be concise. They like to show instead of tell. They like to use analogies to illustrate their points. Star Wars seemed like a way to do that. It's also vague enough that it could serve as a Rorschach test to fans of both.So why don't they just say that they're making this more epic and action-packed than the previous movies without bringing up Star Wars? I still don't see the reasoning behind needing more "Star Wars into Star Trek." They are two completely different universes, and need to be kept apart, and stay that way.
But you don't know exactly how they will apply that though. See it first and then see if you get what they mean.
Original Star Wars. I want to feel the space, I want to feel speed and I want to feel all the things that can become a little bit lost when Star Trek becomes very stately -- which I love about it , but....
