We have a production designer, and Bad Robot may be involved

Oh, well. If this is the direction they're taking then to hell with it. Not interested.

Christ!

VOY - disappointing
ENT - disappointing
JJtrek - huge turn-off

And now if they fuck up ST2017 it will be yet another Trek project I'll have zero interest in.

I know off topic, but what about DS9?

looks like it..code name "Green Harvest'

A play on 'blue harvest'? (remember 'Revenge' of the Jedi caused 'Vengeance' of Khan to change title...meyer connection.. so maybe some kind of call back? I dunno)

Early concept work hardly ever comes out exactly reproduced on screen, and there's no telling if this artwork is just to throw us off, but that's the difference between you and me apparently...I see the art and think, it's unexpected but at least it's fresh and different, where new Trek has to go..you feel fear, disgust, dis-interest, hatred. Firmly entrenched in what was...definitely not a Trek reaction.

I loved it. I don't see the Klingon connection despite the labelling, but that would make some fierce Romulan design. Imagine Nero's ship merged with the more traditional basic Rom shapes and the interiors of the Scimitar all thrown together then dialled up to 11.

....also I got a little bored of the same basic bridge set being used for almost every non-hero ship in TNG and DS9.

Interesting.

I think I am getting close to the point where I will stop checking out news on the new show. I'd like to be surprised when the show premieres.

I personally don't care for it, but we"ll see. If the show is really good I can overlook the design aesthetics.

It would be fine for one of those new alien species that we're supposed to see in the new show, but not for Feds.

This concept art ist just ... :barf:

I was looking forward to this show with optimism, but now I am officially worried!

Every single piece of information we've learned about this new show since CBS announced it has gotten nothing but positive reactions, and then there's a few random pieces of Klingon ship concept art shown and all of a sudden the whole thing is shit? Talk about a knee-jerk reaction.

Interesting.

The approach vaguely reminds me of a ship design that was making the online rounds as a purported NX-01 concept back around 2000.

My guess is that what we end up seeing on screen won't be as ornate as these.

Aesthetically speaking, this is not my favorite type of design, by any means. But I am willing to look beyond such superficial trappings if the more substantial things like story and character are done well.

When Alex Kurtzman was put in charge it wasn't universally praised. When Fuller's was announced, then people started to be more optimistic. The more Bad-Robotish the show seems, the more circumspect people become.

I think the best way to service the diverse Trek fanbase is to leave the nuVerse to the film franchise and let the TV universe be in prime and be presented in a more traditional way. That way, depending on your proclivities, you can just focus on the films or the TV show. I think if the TV show is put into the nuVerse that it perpetuates the idea that both continuities need to fight to the death, that it's winner-take-all.
