Waters Of Mars Wins The Hugo

I thought WOM was the best of a very lackluster 'specials' season, so personally I can see why it won if there was basically nill competition.
Pretty much how I feel. None of the specials really did much for me. There were moments in "Waters" and "End of Time" that were really well done, but none of them make my top ten. Still, another Hugo for nuWho... woo-hoo! :)

I thought it was a terrific episode, certainly one of the more intense and suspenseful episodes in the RTD era.

And, regardless of our differences of opinion, isn't it nice to see Doctor Who get this kind of recognition?

Jeez, do we really need another 'My Doctor is better than your Doctor!' pissing match?
No, this was a totally different kind of pissing match.

Oh well in that case, carry on pissing! ;)

Ah the lost Carry on Film  (Actually might have been an eary title for Carry on at Your Convinience for all I know)

And sorry folks but I'm not so much of a Who fan that I'd happy its won irrespective of the episode, if Who's gonna win I want it to deserve to win. RTD should have really got the Hugo for Midnight...

My top ten of the nuWho era is probably:

1)Vincent And The Doctor
2) Blink
3)Human Nature/ Family of Blood
4) Waters of Mars
5) The Time of Angels/ Flesh and Stone
6) Girl in the Fireplace
7) The Empty Child/ The Doctor Dances
8) Midnight
9) Turn Left
10) The Eleventh Hour

My Top Ten of the modern era, in order:

  • 1-The Empty Child / Doctor Dances

  • 2-Pandorica Opens / Big Bang

  • 3-Girl in the Fireplace

  • 4-Utopia

  • 5-Blink

  • 6-School Reunion

  • 7-Human Nature / Family of Blood

  • 8-Stolen Earth

  • 9-Dalek

  • 10-Fires of Pompeii

My top ten of the modern era, in order by air date:

"Dalek"
"Father's Day"
"The Girl in the Fireplace"
"Doomsday"
"Human Nature"/"The Family of Blood"
"Utopia"
"Silence in the Library"/"Forest of the Dead"
"Turn Left"
"The Waters of Mars"
"Vincent and the Doctor"

^You didn't like The Empty Child?? :wtf: I didn't think people like you exist!

I would conccur but to each their own, I'm not a huge fan of TGITFP after all, its ok but I don't get all the love!

I'll try and do my top 10 when I'm more awake!

^You didn't like The Empty Child?? :wtf: I didn't think people like you exist!

I like "The Empty Child" just fine (though I prefer "The Doctor Dances"). I just didn't put it in the Top Ten is all. Same with "Blink."

My top eleven, some sort of order. Picking eleven is a lot harder than I expected, let alone ordering them. Why top eleven? Because I like to go one step beyond! (Shamelessly stolen from The Nostalgia Critic, yes)

1. Vincent and the Doctor

2. Human Nature/The Family of Blood

3. Blink

4. Midnight

5. The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances

6. The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone

7. The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang

8. Turn Left

9. Father's Day

10. The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit

11. Silence in the Library/Forest of hthe Dead

I feel bad leaving off The Girl in the Fireplace and The Fires of Pompeii, but what can I do? It seems I like to be scared and/or sad, seeing as my top ten includes the Weeping Angels, the Midnight Creature, the Gasmask zombies, the Beast, and the Vashta Narada.

Was reading DWM just now and noticed they called WOM essentially an historical set in Earth's future.

Rather like that description...
