Wasn't there a 2nd female bridge officer?

In the original pilot for Star Trek, there was a female bridge officer who wasn't Uhura.

They should have had her in the movie as Pike's second-in-command, even if only to get killed off and replaced by Spock.

A nice bit of reality subtext.

the move actually takes place several years after the time period of the cage.
so number one might have been promoted.
over the years we actually see several other bridge officers including some in command gold.

All we'd have needed would have been a woman with long dark hair and a Vulcan type attitude, and half of us would have been screaming "NUMBER ONE! NUMBER ONE! NUMBER ONE!"...

Until she died.

Then we'd be complaining that they'd better bring the actress back in ST XII to play Nurse Chapel.

:guffaw: Excellent.

Yeah, I assume "Number One" got some other posting somewhere else. I think if she had been the XO on this Enterprise, she might very well have been killed off to make room for Spock. So its probably better she was elsewhere. Laurentian system, maybe? Thats where alot of folks were apparently.

There was another woman though. I think she occasionally was sitting in place of Uhura at the comm station. Blonde if i recall. Not Rand. I think she was also sometimes seen elsewhere as well. Cant remember the characters name.

There was a female office Pike referred to as \"Hannity.\" Looked a lot like Mira Romaine if you ask me.
