Wasn't Picard doing the Lambada in Insurrection pretty scary???

I know there are some pretty lame and embarrassing scenes from all of the Star Trek movies, but I think this scene takes the cake (yes, I think it's even worse than the "Scotty bumps his head" scene from TFF). It's just cringe-worthy to the extreme, and I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to have this part in the movie. Now, I realize they did it to show that Picard was getting younger, but if I were Patrick Stewart I'd beg Jonathan Frakes to cut that scene out in any future releases of Insurrection.

That being said, Insurrection has actually grown on me a bit. When it first came out, I hated it. Especially because it just didn't have the same impact on me that First Contact did. But nowadays, it's a pretty decent movie (save for that ridiculous Picard Lambada scene :guffaw:).

I don't think it was the lambada. I haven't seen the movie in a while, so I'm pulling from memory, but it looked more like the cha cha.
Other than that, "Insurrection" was a mediocre movie, but it had it's moments.

Oh! I get all of those dances mixed up. :guffaw:

I don't think the scene is really comparable to any of the other real groaner scenes. In TFF, we are given the head bump scene. in Insurrection, we get the boobs scene and the floatation device scene. All the mambo scene does is show Picard acting like a regular person in his free time though a 2 second dance bit. Wasn't that bad.

When I first saw the scene I really hated it. Now I think it's amusing. It was nice to see Picard (and all that we've come to expect from him) getting in touch with his youthful side and revelling in feeling young again. I can relate.

Oh, I always loved it. For me, it was "Wow, Patrick Stewart can dance?", without an element of embarrassment to it. He looks good doing it. He looks good diving into it. He looks stunningly good snapping out of it and realizing for the first time what is going on. At the risk of getting my throat sore, I'll acknowledge there's actual acting to that little act. Mambo!

I liked the scene the first time I saw it. I still like that scene - give me a dancing leading man anytime!

FWIW, when my dad was still with us, anytime "swing" or big band music came on, he would "whisk" whatever female (my aunts, nanna, my sister, me) happened to be in the loungeroom, for a quick circuit of the room. Any other time, he was very quiet and reserved.
