Washington DC in spring

I'm never sober enough to appreciate anything other than giant slices of pizza when I'm in Adam's Morgan.

propita, if you don't already know, be sure to make a trip to the basement of the gift shop at Air & Space. I didn't know about it when we made our first trip out a couple of years ago. Once I found out about it, I made it a point to go on our trip last March. This was one of many highlights of our trip...

I know you are planning on staying downtown, however, if you come across something in Alexandria, go for it. We have what you might call a 'roaming time share', where you can stay at any of their properties. On both trips we stayed on King Street about a block from the Metro. Access to everything in D.C. was fantastic. But my point is, we got to see and do things in Alexandria that we would have other wise missed. Plus the dining options on King Street alone are enough to keep you busy for a solid month (and the prices are less too). Whatever you choose, have a great time.

Well, if Hubby can get two more days off, we might just have 5 days in DC and 5 in NYC. I think we’ll run out of time before we run out of places to go on/near the Mall.

^way overrated

Indeed. It's not that Georgetown Cupcakes are bad (they aren't) but once they got a show on TLC, the place became a tourist trap. I don't even know how much they're charging these days but between prices and the crowd, I don't think it's worth anyone's time. There are so many other bakeries and shops that sell good cupcakes.

Booked our flights and Fairfax hotel near Dupont Circle. Total for 2 tix from Fresno to DC and JFK to Fresno was <$1000. Hotel had great price (AAA.com price, which I confirmed they guarantee) and good reviews, leaving much money for everything else, including a cab if needed, due to the greater distance. Likely a tiny tiny room with the queen bed taking all the space. Still, saved almost $1000 on that.

I'll assume so, since it's near Embassy Row.

Scored mega-points with Hubby finding these deals in flights and hotel. Now just need the hotel in NYC. Likely gonna pick something in the Penn Station area.

Gotta make reservations for the 911 Memorial. Trying to decide if it's better to do the Statue of Librty first, or afterwards. Any ideas?

^ yeah. I asked my wife back when we were engaged about the Fairfax. It's tiny. But it's in a good location.

The girlie and I stayed at Ace Hotel at 29th and Broadway last weekend when we did NYC. Cool place and only about a 10 minute walk from Penn Station. I doubt you'll find a better deal in that part of town.

Nice deal on the flight.

I was just looking to book my trip, and it's $480 round trip for coach. Luckily we get a conference rate on the hotel (usually about $350 a night).

Even more lucky, work pays for it all.

The monuments are so incredible. The Korean War monument is my favorite, followed closely by the WWII monument.

Be sure to catch the Roosevelt monument. A lot of people don't know it's there, and it's kind of off the beaten path (it's around the waterline from Jefferson). It is really a very cool design and concept.
