washer-dryer combo

We don't get a lot of dust here, but I'd be afraid that if I hung anything really nice outside, it might grow little feet and walk away. Like my outdoor chairs did a couple years ago. :( And some laundry is just too personal to hang where everyone can see it.

I've never had a dryer.

Here in Italy, they are mostly the stuff of urban legends, very langes families and American TV series. Usually, we just hang our washing outside or, if it's raining or it's too cold for it, inside your house. I guess the climate is really the determining factor in this.

90% of the time I do hang stuff to dry indoors - I only really use the dryer function if either I need the item quick time or if it's something that will take forever to dry naturally. I can't afford to run the dryer on a regular basis, they are one of the most power draining appliances around.

It would do my head in to have laundry hanging around everywhere indoors. I guess part of the issue is I only have a 2 bed flat, so I really don't have the space.

About the only thing I wish I had in my current home would be a garden so I could hang laundry to dry, esp. things like towels and bed linen. Short of that, the dryer takes the strain. :D

Hanging clothes outside to dry is the stuff of legend here! Seriously though, living in a one-bedroom now, we'd have nowhere to hang clothes to dry. I have some pieces that can't go in the dryer and it's a pain to dry them around the place, plus the cat decides he needs to attack them all.

Even if we lived in a place with a yard I'd never be able to hang things outside to dry because they'd collect pollen.

I have a two bed flat as well, but I invested in an Ikea clothes horse which serves its purpose nicely :D I just can't afford to run the dryer every time I wash is the upshot of it, and the former climatologist in me gnaws at my conscience :rommie:. Plus I find even 'iron dry' is too dry for my shirts, they get permanent creases in bizarre places.

In bad weather I simply hang my clothes on two lines I have strung under my carport. I have used washing lines all my life and there has never been a problem with pollen.

Oops I forgot this was a very old thread which I mistook for my container thread. I was beginning to wonder why the last few posts were all about washing.

You could always delete your post -- but it does a thread good to be bumped once in a while.

Since Miss Chicken was kind enough to bump my thread ;), I'll give you all the update:

I've ordered the LG washer-dryer. My kitchen remodeling starts this Monday. The washer-dryer will be installed the following week.
