Was the historical problem with City/Forever ever addressed?

Attacking Guy? The thought is inconceivable .It's akin to declaring war on Mom and apple pie. I just wanted to make sure we were in sync on dates and such. If my tone was a bit harsh, forgive me oh master of all things obscure and bizarre. As it happens, I didn't much personally care for the Coz after the 60's, long before adopting the mantle of Father Supreme. He certainly was entertaining to watch in I Spy and Hickey & Boggs has been gaining a much deserved critical reputation in recent years. Pretty heavy stuff.

Attacking my point of view, not attacking me, and even then maybe the word is too inflammatory?

Sorry.

A week after he met Edith (February 29, 1936) in the real world (where he did not Edith, because Edith is fictional.) "President Roosevelt extended the 1935 Neutrality Act through May 1, 1937."

There was also a failed coup in Japan a few days after Edith met FDR. It's more likely that the coup leaders wanted more war and not less war, but point is that they almost killed the Emperor and the Prime Minister of Japan, which would have changed the shape of Japans "expected" warfooting for the next ten years if there was a butterfly connecting Roosevelt and Hirohito that week, that the emperor turned left when he should have turned right.

Hmm. Just reroute the useless Aleutian task force to accompany the carriers, land their troops on the confused island, and have them do a thorough job at demolishing, demoralizing and denying access. It's not as if Hawaii would have had means to resist (assuming the timing went right and no US naval or air units could be regrouped to repel the actual amphibious landing), so the fact that the invaders would have brought only light weaponry would be of little consequence.

This is 1942, yes? 100,000 American troops on Hawai'i. I'd call that means to resist. :)

Is it ever established just when City takes place? I had the impression it was earlier in the 30s...

1930 on the button. A New Yorker might be able to round it down to the month by looking at the weather.

We actually see the newspaper in COTEOF. Although it's taken from February 24, 1941. But the dates in the paper place it sometime after February 9, 1930. But probably still early in the year to allow for some time between the Madison Square Garden fight between Kid McCook and Mike Mason (seen on a poster in City) and the rematch alluded to on a 1930 poster from DS9's Past Tense.
