Was Picard gay?

(not that there's anything wrong with that)
I love it when people feel the need to throw that in. Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode.

Only in modern culture could a character be tagged as gay just because he's not lusting his ass off over every woman he sees.

Ain't that the truth...

I don't think sexuality in the 24th century will be nearly as black and white as could be portrayed on 1980s network television. .

Perhaps. But there will always be people who have preferences. Not everybody will like everybody. Nothing wrong with THAT, either. :p

As for Picard: Did we ever see him go after a man? No? Then: not gay.

Picard was practically married to Starfleet :) He was so career focused that any woman he had any interest in, would always be secondary to him.

I can see him being more enlightened and open than Kirk about things. Maybe you are thinking about Patrick playing a character called Jeffrey in another program, or that line where he is possessed by the female vampire in Lifeforce.

Picard ~ NO WAY!!!
He was married to his ship and crew!!! and he LIKED Dr Crusher very much. Friends with benefits.:)

Picard tapped Vash, Beverly (possibly), Batanides, and that 200+ year old chick in Insurrection. Picard never once showed any interest in the opposite sex, and if anyone of TNG's main character did (or would), it would have been Data 'exploring' humanity.

Picard was aloof and not one for sharing his deepest feelings with anyone, he may have been at times cold and distant but that doesn't mean he was gay.

A better question is: was Archer zoophiliac?
He seemed more into Porthos than into any human(oid) of either gender...

Let's not forget that he was married to a woman and had children with her, in The Inner Light. So, that was only an illusion, and didn't actually happen, but it still counts :).

this thread was started 3 years ago (probably for trolling purposes) and then randomly necro-bumped (probably for trolling purposes)... can we please put it to rest?

Riker was gay. Both William and Thomas. They gave all new meaning to the term "I ****ed myself." ;)

Was there a character on TNG who didn't have some sort of sexual encounter with a woman? Possibly Geordi, but that wasn't for his want of trying. Even Wesley managed to get his groove on with Ensign Lefler.
