Was Leia rascist against Wookies?

Leia is horribly racist against wookiees. She even interrupted a religious ceremony called Life Day to torture the poor beings with what she called "a song".

Besides Cheewie was part of the medal ceremony, took a bow a pat on the back. Poor Wedge and the y-wing pilot weren't even invited.

Well, it's not like either of them destroyed the Death Star or took Vader out of the fight.

No but, if memory serves, he did save Luke's life twice during the space battle. That puts him one up on Han.

This reminds me of a thought I had while watching Episode III the other day...Obi-Wan is terribly droidist. He often makes dismissive remarks about them, such as "Well, if droids could think, there'd be none of us here, would there?" when I believe a valid argument could be made that droids do think. He also says something like "flying is for droids," and is clearly dubious of R2D2's ability to assist them in the beginning of the film.

I think it's kind of funny, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized how condescending Obi-Wan is towards droids!

In the Star Wars novel, Chewie did get a medal and it said she had to strain to reach or something like that. I actually had a disagreement about that at the time with a grade school friend; he swore that Chewie got his medal in the movie and I said that it was in the book but not the movie. The movie was no longer playing by then, so we had to wait till the next year (seemed like forever) for the limited-time-only re-release to settle the question. The days before home video...

I couldn't say about the novel. However, the Marvel Comics adaptation said that he did get a medal, but was too tall for her to reach and he'd have to put it on himself. I assume the novel is similar.

I just started the new canon novel Smuggler's Run last night, and page 1 is Chewbecca fingering the medal he was given at the end of ANH. They didn't have a big enough chain to fit around his neck so he was just holding it in his hand. BOOM! Crisis solved.
