Was Kirk gay

Same here. I have never seen Kirk as gay, and I never will. Just because Kirk & Spock are real close that doesn't mean nether one are gay. They are best friends and you could say brothers, that's all, nothing more. Kirk loves women if you can't tell by now he always trying to flirt with them, and sometimes gets real rommanitcaly envoled with them. And with Spock he loves women too, maybe does not go about it like Kirk does because he keeps his emotions hidden most of the time. But he did fell in love a couple times or so like for instance Zarabeth.

Whenever that famous Vulcan resolve was dropped (spores, virus, ponn far, whatever), not only did he show an attraction to the ladies, but he also usually kicked Kirk's ass.

Not exactly the acts of someone who's harboring a forbidden love for another, unless Spock is a closet wife beater.

Totally gay.

He was with McCoy off and on, but McCoy was always trying to inject him with hallucinogens and have his way with him. That's why he's so hostile toward Spock..total jealousy.. He goes to Spock for all his emotional support and McCoy only gets attention when he comes to Kirk's cabin with cocktails!! That's the nature of this Bizarre Love Triangle!!

What is it with people feeling that they have to "gayify" every bloody character in their favourite films/TV shows...?

So they don't like the fact that their heroes are damned, dirty breeders? So what? That's how they were devised, written and portrayed. That doesn't mean they are any less lovable now than they were back in the sixties...

Though one could make an argument that his largely-insubstantial relationships with women actually suggest that they're not ultimately what he's looking for. Were one so inclined.

Hee hee...

Yeah, he sure did make a big show of kissing every woman in sight didn't he? As if he was overcompensating...

^I think you might be taking the discussion too seriously...

Ah... I see I'm in the right place, then. :p

I was, in point of fact, referring to another thread on this board which seems to approach matters like this on rather more serious grounds... :wtf:

From Gene Roddenberry's novelization of "The Motion Picture":

Editor's note:
"I was never aware of this lovers rumor, although I have been told that Spock encountered it several times. Apparently he had always dismissed it with his characteristic lifting of his right eyebrow which usually connoted some combination of surprise, disbelief, and/or annoyance. As for myself. although I have no moral or other objections to physical love in any of its Earthly, alien, and mixed forms, I have always found my best gratification in that creature woman. Also, I would dislike being thought of as so foolish that I would select a love partner who came into sexual heat only once every seven years."

That paragraph, while interesting, is so out of Kirk's voice, it's embarassing. So much of that screams "Roddenberry" in word choice and sentence structure, it's hard for me to see it as anything other than Gene acknowledging and/or trying to quell the K/S fiction.

And jeez, Gene, Vulcans can have sex whenever they want. It's the Pon Farr that is on the timetable (which was never established in Amok Time anyway).

But otherwise, yes: everyone is gay.
