I was watching a download of Flash Gordon and the recording bled over into the ending credits which had an ad for Ent: Bound squashed into half the screen. A nice episode, moral quandary with beautafilish girls, misdirection, reversal of fortune and a twist at the end. I think I might have liked the episode, but the ad for Bound, dear god the ad was a... An opus of obfuscation!
They honestly had what could have been an Indiana Jones sound track playing behind space ships wizzing about this way and that probably in fast forward between and through explosions, and then the voice over lad says "The Captain gets all the action!" as they showed Archer making out with one of them Orion slave girls.
Um?
He was being raped.
Duh.
Only a network TV Executive would think that it's a male victory for a man to be raped by a beautiful woman. Sure, rape is fine if she's pretty and you get some.
What bollocks.
Death by snu-snu?
Okies, Futurama can pull it off, but Enterprise can't.
If they couldn't advertise the product honestly, it's no wonder they couldn't find an audience, since the punters who would have been attracted by that ad would have fallen asleep watching Bound, and the people who might have liked it would have been put off by the crassness of the marketing.
Madness, complete and utter madness.
Any other ads for Enterprise get your goat?
