Was F Troop a Good show ?

I used to enjoy the show when I was a kid. I would like to see it again now, just to see if I could appreciate the show as an adult.

^ Kinda what I thought. I can do anything for 25 minutes.

I saw bits of it in reruns when I was a kid. It's a silly show - sorta like Hogan's Heroes, only a step down, IMO.

I'd be interested to know if the humor holds up. Because back in the day, kidlets thought it was hilarious.

Kind of treats American-Indians with a broad stereotype. It's still pretty funny, but you'd never get away with it today.

The big kick, of course, comes if you know that Melody Patterson, who plays the hawt Wrangler Jane, who has the hots for Capt. Parmentier, is actually only 15 years old in season one. :)

I loved that show.

The Hikowee are no worse treated than the Army. Some eps are a lot funnier than others. One from S1 had Agarn trying to join the Hikowee. Plus, its got a classic intro song, the kind that explains the whole premise! ( I think the last show that did that was Jack Of All Trades)

I liked it, but you have to remember that it was a show of its time. It had some fun guest stars such as Don Rickles and Harvey Korman and Larry Storch and Forrest Tucker were great together.

Also, Melody Patterson has her own website: www.wranglerjane.com

I liked it when I was a kid. I haven't seen it for over 20 years so I've no idea what I'd think of it today.

I used to love this show as a kid! Poor Duffy always getting his horn squished.

But Janie - wow. You don't have to be scantily clad to be hot.

I haven't seen it in a long time but I'm sure it's a product of its time. Certainly worth a look but I wouldn't expect too much.

Who says I'm dumb?!?

I always wanted Forrest Tucker and Alan Hale Jr. to have a hat-hitting contest with their respective sidekicks taking the abuse.

Loved this show when I was a kid. We used toi get an afternoon double of this and My Favorite Martian. Ahh, good times, good times.

It treats EVERYONE with broad stereotypes. With idiots and smart con-men of ALL races.

I loved F-Troop. Some of the better physical comedy of its time, and a really solid cast. Always some good laughs ... in even the worst episodes (and some were pretty bad). But the guest stars at the time were fun to watch.

I liked the show so much that when I worked with Ken Berry in the 1970's, I wrote a feature follow-up. He, Larry Storch and Forrest Tucker liked the script, but Warner Brothers didn't.

That was Hannibal Dobbs. Duffy (played by classic cowboy actor Bob Steele) was always telling his story about being at the Alamo with Davy Crockett. "There we were ... shoulder to shoulder and backs against the wall!"

The actor playing Dobbs, IIRC, went on to do some work in "Love American Style"--I think he was one of the troupe that did the quick skits in between the main episodes.

Thanks for the correction.

That must have been great to work with Mr Berry. He was so talented especially with the physical humor and playing the straight man.
