Was Deepwater Black any good?

There's seven episodes on youtube. I've seen it, and no guess why either, but it's nothing special.

Buffy? No thanks. No matter how clever Joss Whedon's dialogue might be, adults masquerading as kids isn't my thing.

(1997) Only just heard about this. Does anyone know if it's worth chasing down?
You should know that there was another pilot for the CW channel last year called
Plymouth Rock.
"Plymouth Rock" series on CW for 2010

also
a poster writes at a forum mentioning the development of Plymouth Rock on CW:
Defying Gravity meets Deepwater Black. Nah..they wouldn't do that to us. ..would they?
and then another poster mentions:
somebody might be reworking an old pilot idea.

Part 1 if just a exposition. Check out part 2 for stuff on the moonbase at least...

Okay it has low production values but it could work as a reboot. I could see this happening before another ship-based Defying Gravity show on network TV.

The idea that CW wants to put it on a spaceship is even better for scifi on TV as its not on the moon, it's all on a spaceship.

check out the related project mention from the above mention:

USA:30 min (13 episodes) on SciFi channel (under the name Mission Genesis).
the show was co-produced by the YTV Network

Actually this show could use a reboot. See a few clips on Youtube:
Mission Genesis Episode 4 Part 1

Yeah, I didnt exactly go through the roof, but i wouldnt say its a complete waste of time. Decent, but not great. Its worth to watch though, if you're interested. If for nothing else, its worth watching for Nicole deBoer. :)

Given the limited budget and made-for-YTV hindrance (clearly aimed at the 'tween' demographic), it was alright. Definitely an interesting premise behind it, with a few clever plots here and there.

The soundtrack's really good tho', even if it has very little to do with the actual show.

I enjoyed it when it was on. It was also the first time that I saw Nicole deBoer in anything :) It also stars Gordon Michael Woolvett (Harper from Andromeda).

I liked it from what I remember. Nicole deBoer was of course the highlight, and Gordon Michael Woolvet was fun too. It was called "Mission Genesis" in the US. I'm pretty sure it was right after this that "Cube" came out, and then of course deBoer on DS9.

I really liked the concept and I wanted to like the show, but I just couldn't get into it from what I recall. I wish they would redo it, with a bigger budget one of these days.
