Was Cordelia supposed to be Illyria?

The Shanshu Prophecy is supposed to only happen after the end of the world, in that all the major forces of evil would be beaten and their apocalypse averted. Angel wouldn't have any more need of his vampiric powers at that point. Plus the prophecy is supposed to be a reward for a job well done, and not something born of his own selfishness so I suppose that makes the difference for him.

Except that, if I remember correctly here, we are not sure that the reward is from the forces of evil or good. Does Angel save the world or destroy it?

The After The Fall series (17 issues, +4 Spike:ATF's) is already finished. The Shanshu prophecy/apocalypse is expanded upon a lot, but it's still up in the air and to come at a later date.
I loved ATF, and I'd advise any Angel fan to get the TPBs. Although I did think the overall ending to it was a poor letdown.

Now they're onto the 5 part Aftermath storyline (#18-22, currently at #20), and let me tell you it is frakking AWFUL! Different writer than ATF who it seems has never seen an episode of Angel in her life and can't write the characters for shit. Plus the artwork is sickeningly ugly. And that isn't just my opinion either, pretty everyone on the SlayAlive board thinks its crappola compared to ATF.

#18 & 19 were so bad I've actually stopped buying it, and am just gonna wait till the storyline is out the way. As after that it looks like they plan to get back on track with #23 with returning ATF writer Brian Lynch, and #24-25 featuring the return of Drusilla, written by Lynch & Juliet Landau herself
