Was Archer tempted to use the Extinction Virus on the Xindi?

Guy Gardener

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
Archer had a Weapon of Mass Destruction with which he could lay waste to planet after planet until the Xindi were all dead... He had plans enough to kill thousands of Xindi at the Kemocite processing plant and thousands more at the "weapon" installation factory on Azati Prime... But that would still leave dozens of Xindi worlds with not only the surviving infrastructure to build a new WMD death star, but also a good enough reason to launch a conventional attack and give up on a painless humane solution to the Humanity question.

If he couldn't make friends with the Xindi, leaving any of them alive was a tactical nightmare.

He may have been tempted but i believe he would only ever have given it serious thought if Phlox could have found a way to engineer the Virus so that it would only effect Xindi. and even then he would most likely not have actually used it after meeting the Xindi at the Kemocite processing plant, seeing that not all Xindi want humans wiped out.

Re: Was Archer tempted to use the Extinction Virus on the Xi

Remember I, Borg? Picard was going to weaponize Hugh without looking him in the eye, and after he had, y'know anthropomorphizing the threat as a small boy. He couldn't.

As soon as Archer saw the people at the Kemocite processing plant, the odds on him giving Reed the go order to detonate the explosives he ordered Reed to lay began rapidly dropping to Zero.

Archer has a heart. Which won the day eventually, but in so far as fulfilling simple military objectives, it can get in the way just a scodge.

Ask the English about Dresden sometime.
