Well done, the original DS9 horns punctuating it nicely as well...
Really appreciate that Borg, as mentioned it's a teaser and we wanted to show some interesting visuals and give the fans an idea just from watching it what era we're in! I do appreciate you taking time to watch it, it's been hard to get people interested these days sadly.Well done, the original DS9 horns punctuating it nicely as well...
I'm sorry you had trouble hearing her, I know there's a few parts that there where she's talking through her teeth and it might be hard to hear for some. I'm sure we can amp it up when we get to the trailer portion. This is like I said, a teaser, and we're working towards getting our cast and crew together, but Covid has made it pretty hard right now.I had a really hard time understanding the voice through the music.
Admittedly I have a bit of hearing loss, but it's generally a good practice to dial the b.g. sound/music up and down so that when the talent whispers or is low it doesn't get drowned out.
Slightly off topic (but not really) My favorite story about technobabble goes all the way back to TOS. According to "The Making of Star Trek" Roddenberry got a script that had six pages of Captain Kirk explaining how he wanted the helmsperson to reverse course. Roddenberry, tore out all the pages and replaced all those lines with "Reverse Course!" There's a lesson in there for every aspiring script writer I think...I watched your Friday the 13th fanfilm even though I'm not really a fan of that series, but I could see the hard work put into it. The acting was actually pretty decent.
If you can keep the technobabble down to a bare minimum I think I'll enjoy your short feature. Good luck!
I really doubt it was six pages.Slightly off topic (but not really) My favorite story about technobabble goes all the way back to TOS. My experience is that most technobabble can be dispensed with. TOS rarely did it. It became a crutch on later shows where they felt like they had to explain everything. You don't. As GR said, Joe Friday doesn't stop to explain how his 38 works. I took this same approach in the Exeter "The Atlantis Invaders" script (discussed here), where I only in a few places had a throwaway reference to explain why sensors wouldn't work, etc.Sorry was in pre-production craziness, I appreciate you all taking some time to reach out. USS Intrepid, I appreciate it, we'll take all the luck we can get. Reanok, thank you, I have a strong feeling that we'll be swinging for the fences on this one and now we've enlisted the very talented Andy Bray as our writer, he played Chekov in Star Trek Voyages, and brings a TON of Trek knowledge to our storytelling. Bixby, thanks for taking time to watch the film, we worked very hard on it and I promise you'll see that very same dedication on this film. The technobabble gets to be a bit of a necessity as we had to introduce all the elements of why Jason came to be. Some liked it, some didn't, but you can't please everyone! Don't worry though, Warrior's Death will be 100% focused on a character driven narrative that I feel should hit home for a lot of us. And Tosk, I think we're safe on that one! lol
I'm sure you're right. I didn't feel like looking it up. But I do remember that there was lots of useless talk and the point is one that anyone who writes a script should know about.I really doubt it was six pages.![]()
