Loved them in the Giffen/DeMatteis Justice League books. Not sure how I feel about them in their own movie?

If done right, this would be amazing. but, I'm sure it will be dark and gritty, because that's all WB thinks will work with DC movies. Now, you might say that apparently having Greg Berlanti as a producer/director might be a good sign. To that I say: Green Lantern. He produced and co-wrote that, and even though I liked it more than many people, it was kind of a trainwreck. So, I have mixed feelings. If it was done in the style of the comics, with a more light hearted and humorous tone, it could be great, and I think berlanti could do that. But, I don't see DC allowing him to do anything but a dark, dreary, depressing film, since that's all they seem to want to make. So, basically, I would love to see this movie done right, and I think berlanti could do it, but I have no faith in a studio that thinks every superhero movie needs to copy Nolan's dark, depressing style.

About freaking time, already! Been saying for years that these two needed to be in their own movie/tv series together. If they can keep that Giffen/DeMatteis JLI feel to it, it could some really good stuff, IMO.

I knew it! Arrow used Ray Palmer because they couldn't get permission to use Ted Kord, and I heard recently that some TV project wanted to use Booster Gold but was turned down, so I realized, "Hey, I bet they're developing a Booster-Beetle movie."

But Berlanti's doing the movie! Which is a heck of a consolation prize for him.

And they're reportedly going with Jaime instead of Ted as BB. Good choice -- adds some diversity to the cast.

So, the Blue Bettle with no connection to Booster instead of the awesome Blue Beetle who actually goes with Booster is part of this movie? Ok, yeah, I can safely ignore this movie then. Jamie isn't horrible, but he does not fit with Booster, and I'm beyond tired of him being the go to Blue Beetle. I was hoping with him going into comic book limbo in the comics and Ted being brought back in the comics meant DC wanting to use the cool Beetle and recreate the Blue & Gold dynamic, not bring the over hyped, fairly boring Jamie Beetle into live action.

But, apparently one source says it will be Jamie, but another says it will be Ted, so its not confirmed either way. Until its officially announced, I'll still hope for Ted, the Beetle that actually makes sense.

Ted Kord with Booster would be ripe for sticking it to white male privilege.

My only real exposure to the characters is Young Justice and Smallville, so I don't know much about them, but Berlanti has done great stuff for DC's TV shows. I wonder if there's any way Berlanti might be able to get DC to let him set this in the universe of his TV series rather than the their Cinematic Universe. From what I know of the characters, it seems to me they would be better fits in a universe with The Flash TV series and Legends of Tomorrow, than a universe with BvS and Suicide Squad.

Not gonna happen. DC Entertainment head Diane Nelson has made it pretty clear that the TV and movie universes are going to stay separate. She puts it in terms of giving them creative freedom, but there's also the fact that the movies have a much bigger target audience and profit potential than the CW shows, so it's just common sense to let the movies follow their own lead. Marvel's shared movie-TV universe works by letting the movies take the lead, because that's the only approach that makes sense financially and creatively (not to mention logistically, since movies take so much longer to make and thus couldn't possibly keep current with TV-continuity developments). A movie spinoff of the Arrowverse would have to follow its lead, and that's just not feasible.

From what I know of the characters, it seems to me they would be better fits in a universe with The Flash TV series and Legends of Tomorrow, than a universe with BvS and Suicide Squad.

But Arrow is also in the former universe. There's room for both light and dark in a single continuity. (And heck, Suicide Squad looks a lot more playful to me than the Snyder films, though I'm probably basing that more on the fun online publicity than on the actual trailer.)

This movie could be right on time. I know several members on these boards have stated concerns that DC's films will all be dark and gritty. However, a duo film of Booster and Beetle leads itself, easily to a buddy comedy and misadventures in superheroing. Add it to Shazam, which we know is going to be more lighthearted than say TDK 2.0 (Affleck) and the presumed George Miller MOS 2.

No, it would be adapting the characters from the comic in the way they obviously want if they're considering a BB/BG movie in the first place. Jamie Reyes is not the Blue beetle that works with BG. Unless they make him Jaime in name/appearance only and give him Ted's personality, the whole dynamic of BB/BG doesn't work with Booster and Jaime.

Who would you fancast for the roles of BB and BG?

Presumably for Michael and Ted, but if Jaime is your beetle; him as well.

Please don't say Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum or Seth Rogen and James Franco. X(

Chris Evans as Booster and Chris Pratt as Ted. Michael Pena as Jamie (if going for a Tedish Jamie)

That's what I'd recommend.

Probably my favourite comic-book duo of all time (with Power Man and Iron Fist a close second). If they stick the landing it should be good fun.

I thought I'd seen some comics with Jaime Reyes and Booster Gold....

Just checked and apparently the last pre-New 52 Booster Gold series had backup Jaime Reyes solo stories. I guess that must be what I was thinking of.

The Booster Gold ongoing with Johns and I believe Justice League Generation Lost by Winnick. So he is kind of prominent.

But I guess this might explain why Ted was in Forever Evil.

But they are the poster child for white male privilege.
