Warner Bros. Circling David Ayer for DC Comics’ ‘Suicide Squad’

So are the Joker and Harley likely to be part of the Squad or will they be the antagonists? It might be the obvious way to get the audience on the side of this collection of ne'er-do-wells; put them up against the most notorious, unpredictable DC villain and his moll. I think the Joker might work better that way than as part of a team.

Will Smith can absolutely pull off Deadshot. Honestly I'm kind of looking forward to seeing him play a genuine villain character.

My concern is that I'm not convinced Smith can bring the bottomless nihilism that kind of defines Deadshot.

Also, I'm half-wondering if Leto is a stopgap Joker to make things easier for the next guy to play the role. (Basically, he's the Lazenby.)

Speculation is that it'll be our first look at Leto's Joker, though I've a feeling that it'll be something less exciting. I hope I'm wrong. Incidentally, in another tweet over the weekend, Ayer was asked to describe this Joker in one word and chose the word 'majestic.'

The Suicide Squad cast. This is good.

On the far right you will notice Jim Parrack. Allegedly he is to play Deathstroke The Terminator. I repeat, Hoyt from True Blood is Deathstroke. This is the first casting choice that has seriously given me pause.
