Warner Archive Instant Genre Offerings

One streaming service doesn't get much press, and it's Warner Archive Instant. Warner Bros may prefer fronting the Warner Archive Store, which sells their older catalog titles burned to disc for each individual order- manufacture on demand, rather than a monthly subscription service based on it. Checking in to see if anything new had been added since my last visit (last fall), I was delighted to find a couple of additions now available to be streamed.

The 4 Man From Atlantis telefilms and the complete season. Both have been offered separately thru the Archive Store, but the original prices for both were a little steep (compared to other series that were being sold), so I passed.

Filmation's 60s The New Adventures of Superman.
When WB released it on DVD a couple of years ago, they removed the Superboy segments from the release due to the lawsuit with the Seigel and Shuster families. They are now included in the series' streaming package, though not presented in the original series format of 2 Superman/one Superboy toon per episode until around episode 19. There was one episode that I watched in that format, but it looks as if several SB's were added at the tail end of the package. Nevertheless, it's a chance to finally see them after all this time. And there's sad irony...Superboy was voiced by Bob Hastings, who passed away this week, after a long TV career in front of the camera, and as a voice actor-for younger animation fans, Hastings was Commissioner Gordon on the Bruce Timm Batman series.

Filmation's 70s New Adventures of Batman is also now streaming.

Other genre titles that may interest...
The live action TV movie ''The Spirit'' starring Sam Jones
Earth II, 70s telefilm starring Gary Lockwood.
Probe-the pilot film for the Search TV series starring Hugh O'Brien.
The Gene Roddenberry 'Dylan Hunt' TV movies, Genesis ll & Planet Earth.

If you have a Roku, you can add the Warner Archive app from the Channel Store. Note-the app offers a 1 week trial, but go online directly to the site and sign up for a 1 Month free trial if you're interested in checking it out.
