I have no interest in this movie aside from the fact that it may help a Starcraft movie be made sometime afterwards. That will be amazing.

I think this could actually be pretty cool. It's true that most video game movies so far have been utter crap, but unlike most video game movies so far, this one actually has a very good director attached, who's not only talented, but seems to be an avid gamer and a huge fan of the WarCraft series. It's entirely possible that his relative inexperience will allow the studio to interfere too much and somehow fuck it up, but I think there's at least a chance of this one being good.

I'm just a little bit sad that this means that Duncan Jones won't get to make that Blade Runner-esque sci-fi movie he had planned anytime soon.

Jones’ recent work on Source Code makes him seem particularly well-suited to a game in which dudes who have no lives of their own become heroes by assuming the identities of others, then doing the same repetitive tasks over and over again while having awkward flirtations with whatever girl they can find. Also, strategy.

I'm not holding my breath. I was disappointed after reading Raimi interviews over a few years that he dropped it. They should have done this at the height of Warcraft's popularity, though if it does turn out to be a reasonably okay movie I expect most who played at some point will check it out.

There are many involved and excellent lore stories in Warcraft that would make great movies.

The WarCraft series has excellent lore and a brilliant narrative. Blizzard has created an epic fantasy universe on par in quality with anything you'll find in print or on television. Of course, StarCraft is still way better. :)

I don't get the World Of Warcraft hate. If it is the community, okay whatever but Warcraft has been around a while, like 1994 and WoW came out in 2004. There is plenty of lore and even WoW has great stories built into the game, plus there are books, comics based upon the rich lore. Plenty of stories and I hope/think this movie will be great. :)

ETA: I hope Johnny Depp isn't playing Sylvanas. :p

No, he'll be a blood elf. I just hope it isn't human based lore primarily.

I can see Depp as Lor’themar Theron. Sylvanas is kinda a brat but still my fav. :D

I was gonna say Sylvanas probably has no problem becoming the Lich Queen as long as she can keep her affiliation with the Horde, mainly the Blood Elves, I think she just wants the Alliance to burn. :rommie:

I hate WoW. I loved the regular Warcraft games. But honestly just knowing I'd be sitting next to a bunch of WoW players is enough to make me skip this in the theaters.
