Through conversation my girlfriend has made it known to me that she wouldn't mind trying trek out, but due to the fact that she has little no interest in science-fiction otherwise I have been hesitant to show her an episode, lest it give her a poor first impression. To be honest there are some tedious episodes of TOS and TNG that I got through only by the virtue of fandom, and i'm a sci-fi/speculative fiction junkie.
Maybe that old adage about Trek being merely a western set in space might apply to some episodes, but certainly not all. I have compiled a list of episodes that I deem to be "necessary" in the viewing of trek, encapsulating the soul of what trek is and also written, and performed to a high standard. I don't want to bore her with stories that only serve to stroke the heart of a Trek diehard. Please share any experiences of having introduced a friend or loved one to trek and how you went about it? Also feel free to made additions or modifications to my WIP list:
