Wanna goto comic-con next year – HELP!

Hi all. Ok, so I want to take the wife to comic-com next year. I figure it’s doable. I can drive to southern Cali so no big deal there. My sister lives in the area so we could stay with her. From what I understand the tickets are in the neighborhood of $100, again doable.

What I don’t know is anything else! The last time I went to a convention it was a Creation convention in Tucson when I was 15 … meh. I understand the tickets sell out fast I think. I guess I’ll need to register on the comic-con web site to buy the tickets.

It’s usually what, a 4 day event? There is a night called preview night where I’m guessing we get to see new stuff coming out. Then there are the guest panels, must I pick and choose or are they arranged so a person can see all they want? Is there a specific night or event that is the main event that we must be there for? I want to make this a great trip for my wife and want to get my hands on any info that could help.

Any help or hints would be very helpful. Thanks all! :)

edited to add: After looking at the site it looks like I can't get a 4 day pass with preview night even if I wanted to... what did they do, sell those tickets at the 2010 con?! So the best I can do is a 4 day pass with no preview night?

SO people who want to go to preview night need to buy the tickets a year in advance at the con itself in person...?

I'm pretty sure Comic Con 2011 is already sold out. I would suggest taking a look at the website but this thing sells out months in advance and is reportedly quite hard to get into unless you haven't reserved passes months in advance.

Sold out already... DAMN! Then what about 2012? Does a regular guy like me stand a chance or is this something only for rich elite kinda people?

The 2011 ComicCom is NOT sold out, per their website. Only the 4 day + preview night. The 4 day tickets will be available online as on Nov 22.

Hubby and I went in 1991. It was great. We haven’t been able to go since. We’re seriously considering it. You’re really lucky to have a place to stay. The $105/ticket is not a problem; the cost of a hotel is.

I was hoping more people here knew something about CC, this must be the wrong place, guess I'll try elsewhere.
